Re: stariting procedure w/36mm dellortos?

On the 906 with Del Ortos I'd always put on about 1/2 choke, then give the throttle one quick twist to pop a squirt of fuel into the inlet tracts from the accelerator pumps, then push the starter button and roll on the throttle slightly as it catches. Always a reliable start. Then tweak the choke a ...

Re: Strange clutch problem

May be that the slave cylinder o-ring is starting to leak. When the engine and clutch heat up, the plates expand. If the hydraulic system is only just pushing the slave cylinder piston far enough to dis-engage when it's cold, it may not travel far enough when the plates have expanded and need to be ...

Re: Ignitech for 906?

Another one to try is Silent-Hektik in Germany. Haven't used the product myself but it seems to be a plug in replacement and they also offer coils and leads claiming improved performance over the standard items. You can use google translate to get more info from their mainly German web site. They we...

Re: no spark 906

Agree with McTool.
I have had voltage drop problems with both the ignition switch and the kill switch.
The wire soldered to the kill switch terminal was fractured to the point where there was just one or two strands of the wire left hanging on when I found it.

Re: Jetting for Dellorto PHM 40

Hi Ducinthebay I have only just seen this post, but have some info that may still be of use. I have a 906 with PHM40 Delortos. They were installed and setup for me by Gowanlochs in Sydney Australia and seem to work pretty well. The info here is from my notes last time I gave the carbies a clean and ...

Re: Paso 906 Brake discs needed

try VeeTwo (http://www.veetwo.net/store_bike.asp) and Gowanlochs (http://www.ducati-gowanloch.com/brembo.htm) in Australia. At least one of them used to have cast iron replacements and also a floating version of the 280mm disc. Can't quickly see them on their webs sites but worth a try.

Re: Rear Brake Light Switch

The rear brake light switch has am M10 x 1.0mm thread. It is a banjo style fitting and the thread length is 19mm. Ducati part number is 0796.54.114. guzzino.com has some for US$29.95 The standard part has spade connections, but some aftermarket parts come with wires pre-terminated or moulded into th...

Re: Chain tensioning

The lock nuts on the sprocket carrier bolts have a spring steel lock arrangement as part of the nut instead of the internal nylon bush that makes an interference fit with the bolt thread in a 'nylock'. Same concept though. I have also had mine work loose over time after having tightened them down we...

Re: Another question about clocks!

Its an orange wire (mine looks more orangey-red) that hooks into the 12 volt supply near the regulator. It's crimped to the main heavy red wire that goes from the regulator back to charge the battery. At the instrument panel end, it is the top wire (pin 1) into a 6 pin connector in the middle of the...

Re: 906 headlight conversion

Regarding the Paso alternator, Antti is right. The Paso system is a dumb systems that dumps the excess power to ground as heat dissapated in the reg. The alternator pumps out more power the faster the engine turns, as is seen by the increase in open circuit voltage (~80VAC) as the engine spins up. T...

Re: Coolant Bottle repairs

Gasfireman I had a similar problem with my 1990 906 after the first few years of ownership from new. I repaired it with fibreglass mat and fibreglass epoxy resin and it has remained solid for a good 15 years. With that said, it has been off the road for a few years now and I have just inspected the ...

No worries Snake. Correction to the pink wire connections - they are spade connectors as well, not bullet...a brighter torch did the trick.

Re: reproduction body panels in fiberglass or carbon fiber!

Gowanlochs in Sydney, Australia used to have aftermarket unpainted fibreglass Paso body work. This was about 10+ years ago last I saw, but they may still be able to get them. http://www.ducati-gowanloch.com/ 702 Canterbury Road Belmore Sydney NSW 2192 Australia Email: gowanloch@ozemail.com.au Phone:...
