Re: testing ignition pickups

So, for the sake of argument lets say you're not an Engineer nor do you have a timing light that you are just a rider forced to be a mechanic. How do resolve the issue?

Re: testing ignition pickups

You can tell by the color of the wire, also on mine one set was longer than the other.

testing ignition pickups

I finally got the pickups from Electrix and installed them, problem is that it still will not start. I'm going through everything to make sure it all works but how do you test the pickups, thanks.

Re: Ignition pick ups

Thanks Paso750, I found a site called Electrex World in England and am wondering if anyone can vouch for them or their products before I make a purchase. They have both for $101.83.

Ignition pick ups

Greetings All, I am in need of the ignition pick ups for my 88 Paso. If anyone has them to sale or would like to trade for something please let me know. I would like to get to get them in so I can ride to the Moto GP in Indy Aug 19.
Thanks so much.

Re: starter for 88 Paso

Well I decided to take the easy (but slightly more $) way out and order a starter from Stockers. The unit I purchased was out of stock (3 mths) so they are sending me an OEM (original Equipment) for the same price.$109 + shipping not bad I say.
I should be riding by the weekend.

Re: starter for 88 Paso

Well I tried to remove the wire from the starter and it was rusted on and it would only spin. So it looks like I will be replacing the complete starter now

Re: starter for 88 Paso

Hey Streetsurfer, I bought my 1st Paso 750 (which I still have) from Greg and Geoff in 87. That bike is at Indy Ducati having some internal work done to it now.

Re: starter for 88 Paso

Thanks for the info guys, I'm gonna give it a whirl. I'll try to just replace the brushes if I can find them where I live. I'll post later how it is , again thanks.

Re: starter for 88 Paso

Gert, are you referring to the removal and replacement of the starter
or of the brushes.

Re: starter for 88 Paso

Is the removal and replacement of the brushes a complicated effort or is it a pretty simple process? I have a Paso shop manual but it really doesn't go into detail regarding starter repair.

Re: starter for 88 Paso

Sorry, I didn't see the link in your post. The problem now resides in where to purchase said brushes.
