Re: JE psitons quality

A word of warning about used pistons, Ducati's have a tight tolerance on the piston to wall clearance. They classified pistons as A or B fit. I bought a used set only to find they had too much clearance. They also wear in the ring grooves. I looked into stock bore J&E pistons, but no gaurantee t...

Re: Aftermarket Levers for a Paso

I use CRG Roll-A-Click levers, #AB-511B is the standard length in black for one of them. They are listed as fitting Monsters 620/800/900, etc.

Re: 907 EPROM

I recently rebuilt my motor because I couldn't get it to run steady with the FIM chip, very jerky except at full throttle. After the rebuild to 944 cc and 10.5 compression, it still didn't run right. I ordered a custom chip from FBF for $150 US and the bike runs great now! I was able to give them al...

Re: Paso Thermostat/Cooling Hose Replacement mod.

I wasn't suggesting connecting the brass fitting to the plastic housing, there would be a short piece of hose there. With the 15 MM to 22 MM transition, I like the silicon elbow too! My thermostat was leaking and has been repaired by cutting thru the metal ring, then sealing the seam and putting a h...

Re: Paso Thermostat/Cooling Hose Replacement mod.

Thanks for the pictures, this looks like a great replacement for the 907IE thermostat as long as the upper junction hose continues to be available. I would try substituting a 1" 90 degree brass elbow for the Samco elbow and copper union as this will pull the thermostat inward, make one less con...

Re: Paso Thermostat/Cooling Hose Replacement mod.

Can you post a picture of the thermostat installed? Is the bypass maintained and the open temperature the same? Sounds like an interesting alternative to the discontinued Ducati part, thanks!

Re: Resrvoir bottle conversion success

If the clerk behind the counter absolutely needs an application for a .9 BAR small radiator cap, tell him 1997 Mazda Miata. After all my hunting around, all I had to do was open the hood of my daily driver, Doh :banghead:

Re: Coolant Reservoir/Tank and Radiator hose modification:

I worked for a US company that converted to metric back in the 70's. Unfortunately, the US component suppliers never switched, so everything became a mixed bag. Even Ducati uses British Standard Pipe for their newer exhaust pipe plugs, go figure!

Re: Coolant Reservoir/Tank and Radiator hose modification:

An alternative to automotive Goop is Hot Melt glue. If you picked up the Honda radiator cap with your filler neck, it is rated at 1.1 Bars (approximately 16 psi). To run at the lower pressure that the Paso was designed for, pick up a Stant #11227 radiator cap or equivalent at the local auto parts st...

Re: Resrvoir bottle conversion success

Hi Sheldon, thanks for the offer! I figured out that if you ask for a motorcycle radiator cap at the auto parts store, they do not comprehend. The 13 psi cap is actually used for automotive and motorcycle applications, just look for a Stant #11227 or equivalent. It was $8 in the States also. I will ...

Re: Resrvoir bottle conversion success

Hi Sheldon, I have not been able to source a .9 bar radiator cap locally, I have tried auto parts stores and motorcycle dealers. Do you have a manufacturer and part number or a model that uses this rating?

The link was for www.babbitsonline.com. The 2006 price was $132, todays price is $228.
Yikes! Well this part is going on 23 years old. The other option is used or just order the back insert and use the Ducati shell.

Re: body panel alignment

Hi Sam, I got my left side panel to fit by putting an 1/8" aluminum spacer between the frame and the taillight assembly. The taillight lens actually lines up better to the tail section and I have a gap between the lens and the side panel

Re: Paso Dual Headlight Conversion

It's the way Ducati should have gone. When I saw pictures of the dual headlight conversion on this site, I had to do it! Anti, your bike dying on the road convinced me to put a battery minder in and make sure I could run with just a single headlight so I don't drain the battery. It's fine off idle f...

Paso Thermostat/Cooling Hose Replacement mod.

Ducati Paso Thermostat & Cooling Hose Modification: The original Paso thermostat is no longer available from Ducati. These were bypass thermostats that routed coolant from the heads to the top right angle feed. When cold, the coolant would exit the side outlet, returning to the water pump. When ...
