Update!

Turned out there was moisture/corrosion/problems with the plug for the ignition pickup. After all else failed, I cleaned and dried the contacts and my sparks have returned!

Magneti Marelli failure?

So, I cleaned the bike up after a year of sleep, running great, rode to a meet (10 miles?), rode home, no issues whatsoever. Rode to work the next day. No issues. next day - bike starts great, runs for 30 seconds, then dies. Completely. Absolutely no spark at all. Coils have power. Battery is new an...

Re: Mikuni flatslides - Pump vs No Pump

OK - apparently I introduced another variable at some point - Cables. :)

Setting a little cable adjustment allowed the carbs to close. Bike runs great, starts well, and seems to like the change from a 15 to a 20 pilot. Hopefully that's it.

Re: Mikuni flatslides - Pump vs No Pump

seems odd that that would effect it at IDLE, though. Oh well. I think I need to wait for these new float valves to show up before I do anything. I switched from the 1.8 to a 3.0 since there's no pump to push the fuel through the valve.

Mikuni flatslides - Pump vs No Pump

So, I bought my bike with the Ferracci mikuni flatslide conversion on it already. Pump had always been active, and PO reported bike ran poorly when pump would loose it's connection (bad power connection to the pump in the past had provided this experience). Pump died, and gravity feed was more than ...

I emailed them directly at their contact email listed above. They sent me a paypal invoice this morning for both tires - $390, including shipping. Seems a fair price for unobtainium. :)

Re: 750 sport engine number location?

UPDATE:

I found the numbers, in a completely different location than the manual says, on the case, on left side, more or less right in front of the kickstart boss.

Welcome to Ducati I guess. :)

Re: 750 sport engine number location?

The point is, they have NOT been replaced. My friend personally took the bike out of the crate when new, and has owned it since new. These are the cases the bike arrived in this country with 20 years ago. Perhaps there is a different place that is not so visible? I've spent a bunch of time wish a fl...
