Charging/electrical question

Seems like all I do when I post here is look for help. :dunno: So I've been having strange running issues with my P750 for a season or so. Most recently, I (finally) did the starter mod, with the extra solenoids last season - and that was amazing. The bike has never started or run so well. Fast forw...

Re: 750 ignition wiring upgrade (attn. jcslocum)

Jake, it doesn't matter. It'll work both ways. Contact 30 and 87 of a relay are not directional. If you want to stick on what's printed on the relay 30 is the number for battery +. Oh, good to know. Makes sense. I wound up running the battery+ from the starter solenoid to post #30 anyway. But what ...

Re: Can i ride the paso daily?

I used to do over 150km a day on mine without trouble. The only downside is squaring off the rear tire, with all that time on the superslab

750 ignition wiring upgrade (attn. jcslocum)

Hey Jonathan - I'm going through the PDF to do the wiring upgrade for improved starting (the addition of 2 new 30a/12v relays) and I just realized an inconsistency: In Step 5 , you clip then pull the 12ga brown wire from the main power feed plug under the tank, attach a female push-on connector and ...

I may; I'll have to find it but I'll let you know once I do. It'd be used though ... lemme check.

Re: REALLY stumped now

angelix & streetsurfer - you guys might be onto something. I know the new fuel lines are ok, because I put them on and I put clear ones on because the first couple things I tried didn't fix the issue - and I specifically wanted to see what was going through the lines. ;) But the ignition/kill sw...

Re: REALLY stumped now

In what condition are the membranes in the Mikuni? Are they still soft or are they stiff? The throttle slider is vacuum operated and if the membranes become dry over the years the carb won't work properly. Worth checking. If you want to check be careful when removing the round covers as on the bott...

Re: REALLY stumped now

@Frank - the shop tested the coils, not me. The shop owner actually used to have a Paso, so he's familiar with them (and possibly therefore more sympathetic to me?). The tech was convinced it was jetting - although it had been running fine for years prior. So that's why we've moved into electrical. ...

REALLY stumped now

I've been having issues running properly for a while now. I thought it was fuel related, so I replaced all the lines, had the carbs (Mikuni 38s) cleaned, replaced the vacuum fuel pump with a Mikuni unit, tested the coils, the plugs & wires, the compression, checked the valves - all good. I'm at ...

Re: Stumped. Intermittent poor running issue (updated)

Ok, I think I'm closer to the issue. When I went leave the office, the bike wouldn't turn over - because it was hydrolocked. It tried, but it just couldn't spin the crank even have a revolution. So I put the bike in 2nd or 3rd gear and rolled it backwards about 4m. (I figured if it wouldn't go forwa...

Re: Stumped. Intermittent poor running issue

Blocked tank ventilation? Try open tank when it happends again. hm ... I'll check. That'd make sense now that you mention it; I just filled it last night, and most of my miles were at a good clip, so the fuel was moving. It wasn't until I was just shuffling along in traffic, stuck at lights, that i...

Stumped. Intermittent poor running issue

As initially described in this post , my bike has begun presenting a peculiar issue when running. Basically it feels like it's either drowning or can't catch its breath. Even in neutral, when I open the throttle, the engine just isn't spinning up like normal, and it even has a bassier note to it. I...

Re: Mikuni 38 carb question

Thanks, Hamish. I can actually check a bunch of those boxes you mentioned: I do have a carb jet in the return line to the tank, and I have eliminated the stock electric pump in favor of a vacuum pump. So I'll see about closing up that weep hole and see if that solves my issue! I like simple solution...

Mikuni 38 carb question

This begins by me having a strange, intermittent running issue. Basically it felt like the engine just wasn't getting enough gas - it would idle fine, but the engine would not spin up quickly at all. From a stoplight, it took lots of gas and clutch feathering. The engine did not like a load. Once it...

Re: picture thread - I have no words ...

That last one sure is a curiosity. Even with the original Silentiums, it appears. I'm trying to figure out what's kept hidden behind the windscreen though; there appears to be some sort of clear plastic soda bottle? And hanging off the left side, above the exhaust/behind his knee - an evap cannister...
