Re: 750 Sport swingarm crack

Just offering a quick update on what transpired. I found a local engineering workshop whom fabricated and replicated the fractured brackets and it's come up well. A decent result and hopefully it'll last another 30 years.

750 Sport swingarm crack

I'm aware this topic has probably come up many times however I considered myself one of the lucky owners.......not this time. I was doing some cosmetic work over the weekend and after 12 years ownership I found a crack on the mounting bracket. Does anyone know of a good engineering group in Melbourn...

Welcome to the forum Fireypete, nice looking Sport. I'm also a Melbourne based Sport rider.

Sorry for the late response to your PM.........I've been off the radar with the Ducati for a little while.

Re: Kiwi's 750 Sport resto

I've had mine for over 10 years now and in most part it's been fairly reliable and great to ride. I had a Weber float failure last year which resulted in flooding, unable to idle and oil contamination. Seeing the Weber uses a pressurised fuel feed, your needle valve and float must be in perfect work...

Re: Kiwi's 750 Sport resto

Hi Kiwi, welcome to the forum and good luck with your restoration \ mod project.

There's some good threads on the forum detailing Weber tuning.

The auxiliary venturi update from 3.5 to 4.5 helped smooth out the flat spot. I also stepped up my idle and primary jets too.

Re: 750 Sport Clutch Cover and Slave Seal

Thanks Mc. It's just another one of those quirks I guess and more hours engineering a solution. It looks like the seep\drip was caused by the bleeding process as there's no further leaking today however I'm yet to ride it. I'll ride it in the coming days and if there's no fluid I'll leave it alone a...

750 Sport Clutch Cover and Slave Seal

Just wondering whether anyone is having the same issue. After 10 years of ownership and only covering about 5000kms, the clutch slave cylinder o-ring looks like it's ready to start weeping again. Over the years I've twice replaced it with Ducati OEM o-rings but after a while starts seeping again. I ...

Hi,

Would anyone have a spare original owners handbook they'd like to sell?

Thanks

Re: shortage of 16 inch tyres again

Hi Hans,

There doesn't appear to be a stock issue in Australia \ Melbourne. I've checked a couple of local suppliers online and can obtain a set if needed. That being said, my tyres are are 11 years old (DOT0413) and covered 5000kms therefore I should plan a tyre update in the near future.

Re: 1989 750 Sport idle issue

I'll do some further tests at another stage. I had the gauge connected just before the carburetor banjo so technically it should be at it's full operational pressure point. That being said some pressure would be absorbed by the return line too. Main thing for me right now is that the 750 is operatio...

Re: 1989 750 Sport idle issue

Perhaps. The current pump pushes fuel at a rather slow rate. I pressure tested it and was only receiving 1 psi from the gauge. That being said it works well enough........the gauge is a cheapy from eBay so it's accuracy could be questioned too. I've since fitted new fuel lines and decent clamps so i...

Re: 1989 750 Sport idle issue

Thanks MC. Yes, there's a return line to the tank (no reg) that diverts via a small t-junction midway to the carburetor. My return line is only about 180mm, again fuel pressure doesn't appear to be an issue. In fact too much pressure brought me issues when I attempted to renew the pump. I suspect I ...

Re: 1989 750 Sport idle issue

Idle issue fixed.......I went on a 70km ride today and it ran perfectly. I'll leave things alone for the moment until trying the vacuum pump solution.

It's actually nice to have it back on the road again.
