Re: Horn kills the motor?

Yeah, so between the kids sports, me doing massive amounts of overtime, my project bike & never ending honey-do list I decided to pass the work off to Seacoast in NH. $50 picked the bike up in CT, transported it to their shop via their sprinter van. They're doing a top to bottom overhaul/refresh...

Re: Horn kills the motor?

Ok so now I've checked with two multimeters just to be sure and it seems that the stator/alternator/whatever it's called is toast, across the two yellows (mine as light tan actually) it only reads 5.Xv AC. The battery stays at a constant 12v, no change any rpm. So where to source a new one? The reg/...

Re: Horn kills the motor?

Stator? Lol ok. The red wire goes into the sheath with the two yellows and then into the cover on the left side of the motor, which I have not removed yet. The weird thing about all this is that my uncle told me the bike was running fine the last time he rode it (albeit about a decade ago). The bike...

Re: Horn kills the motor?

That's weird, because if I put the + lead of my multimeter to the red wire coming out of the magneto, and the - lead to a ground I get 12v DC......

Re: Horn kills the motor?

Alright, got to fiddle again for a bit. @5v across the two yellows >1000rpm. So the magneto is toast?

Re: Horn kills the motor?

Ok, yeah I'd forgot to mention that I did check the battery while running. No change in voltage when revved. Also there are 3 wires coming out of the magneto, 2 yellow one red. The red wire seems to have some heat damage to the connector. Looking at the schematic that's the charging wire. I discinne...

Horn kills the motor?

So I got going on the light resto of my paso, cleaned the carb, checked the belts, changed the oil/plugs & fired her up. Well, had to use a jumper box because the only batt I had was a ballistic EVO that was in my husky 630, I had disconnected the headlamp so I would have more cranking power and...

Re: 906/907 brake line compatibility question.

Thanks for the replies! Yeah I'm going with the 2 line setup and a banjo switch. I've used them with good results on my supermoto conversion.

Re: 906/907 brake line compatibility question.

I was planning on going with a 2 line setup from the M/C and ditching the splitter altogether.

906/907 brake line compatibility question.

Hey guys, quick question: I've decided to start compiling parts needed for the resto/refresh of my 906 Paso. In shopping for braided brake lines I spotted a set on flea-bay that are listed for '87-'90 Paso 750. Are these compatible with the '90 906? I'd figure that they can't be too much different i...

Re: Cush drive question.

The shoulder portion (the part without the threads) seems to have stretched or the bolts were replaced in the past and some were used that had a too long unthreaded part in which case the nut would have been tight at the end of the thread and the whole bolt would still jiggle. Now that you know wha...

Re: Cush drive question.

Out of curiosity, I took a peek at it. I removed one of the sprocket bolts, and 1 of 2 things has happened (possibly both). The bolts are shoulder cap screws. The shoulder portion (the part without the threads) seems to have stretched and/or the holes in the sprocket have elongated/worn to an egg sh...

Re: Cush drive question.

Hahahhaaha......ride it! Bwahahaaahaaaa! Yeah....um, no. The way I do things, by the time this thing has been ridden it will have been completely disassembled, inspected, any suspect parts replaced. I'm positive there will be some things that will be powdercoated, (I have my own 3'x3'x5' PC oven in ...

Re: Cush drive question.

Maybe my post was unclear. The bolts aren't loose as in torqued down. Using a hex key they're tight and don't rotate in either direction. They jiggle. As I'm not familiar with the construction of Ducati's I was wondering if it was supposed to be like that...I've owned and ridden literally hundreds a...

Cush drive question.

I searched "Cush drive" and only 2 posts came up, neither appears to touch on my query. While I was looking over my recent 906 acquisition, I was checking to see if the engine would turn over, fearing stuck valves, seized rings, etc. as a result of its extended hibernation. I had the bike ...
