Re: Paso 906 Production Numbers

HA, I know this is an ancient post but while surfing around I noticed that the vin listed is actually my bike that I bought in 2015! Its a small world.

Re: Any golden tyres/Shinko tyres left?

I put shinkos on the 906 last spring. bought them online and mounted them myself because I didn't trust anyone not to scratch my freshly painted wheels. I am pretty satisfied with the ride quality and handling, I have no delusions that a 30 year old sport tourer is going to be a peg dragger. my only...

Is that the battery behind the windscreen?! why would someone want that weight up so high and forward?

Re: vin problem

The way I finally sorted things out was to just contact Ducati directly. They asked me to send pics of all the numbers as well as some overall pics of the bike. they were very quick in responding and I was surprised at how much info they have on record.

Re: lots of money ? no brains ? ........step right this way

well, since alot of people judge value based on asking prices they see instead of selling prices it might help the rest of us increase value if a bunch of folks keep trying to sell at ridiculous prices.

interesting that the 906 specifically was chosen. I guess they're ok with the 750 and 907?!?!

Re: Finally giving up on the weber

It seems the weber can be a bit of a crap shoot. I built my motor about 2,000 miles ago with only a bump in compression and some head work and the weber has worked gloriously with no change from my initial settings. I hear alot of people having trouble with the weber so i have a mikuni setup on the ...

Re: I just bought a 906

If you are a mechanically minded person who enjoys a challenge I would offer a couple bits of advice as someone who just finished an honest and comprehensive restoration of a 906. 1: A lot of people will tell you to get rid of the Weber carb in favor of a mikuni conversion because the Weber is famou...

I wonder how many survive

I wonder how many of these things are still alive. particularly, of the 250 red 906's that were sent to the states I wonder how many are still alive. It can't be more than a handful.

Re: weber manifold "what if ?"

Just spoke with my brother who used to be a nascar cyinder head guy and now makes custom race exhausts and also happens to be a bit of a mechanical genius. He reminded me that even in a well built engine every cylinder has it's own unique air/fuel requirements. For example, he said, that in a nascar...

weber manifold "what if ?"

So, now that my bike is completed and running well I can turn my mind to more theoretical and unimportant things. I've often wondered why the weber manifold is split instead of open inside to make a common plenum for both barrels of the carb to feed. Seems to me that it would eliminate the need for ...

Re: vin problem

I got a reply from Ducati and now I'm more confused than before. According to them, my bike is a correct matching number bike that was part of a production run of 250 produced in 1988. the part that has me baffled is the date code "L" which makes it a 1990 and the sticker on the frame that...

Re: 750 Paso new cylinders and pistons

On my 906 I sent the original barrels to a company called US chrome. they media blasted them, and replaced the nikasil bores good as new for just $175.

Re: Throwing a line out, maybe i'll get lucky.

I also am in NC and recently went through this for an R1 I'm looking at. The easiest thing to do is get a bonded title. All you need is a bill of sale. As long as the bike is not reported stolen, your insurance company will sell you a bond on the title. I could run down the steps for you but it migh...
