Re: 750S Brought back to Life

Keith, The shock is from Cogent Dynamics Engineering. It is 13.375 in (340 mm) long at the shortest and can be adjusted out quite a ways. The original carb SS shock was 13 in (330 mm), which had the bike steering quite slow in comparison. The SSie shock at 13.25 in (336 mm), offered a good length fo...

Carburetor synchronization tuning

What RPM do you folks generally synch the carbs at? Idle? 3,000 RPM? 5,000 RPM? I feel a bit of a buzz at the higher RPMs and want to know if throttle balancing could smooth it out.

Thanks,
Roger

Re: 750S Brought back to Life

Thanks, Frank! I inherited the bike pretty much how it looked :) I just brought the internals back to life and up to date. The header and pipes were painted, I think. My contributions were mainly the carburetor tuning, ignition coils, fuel filter, and chain/sprockets. I also have a new shock on the ...

Re: 750S Brought back to Life

I got hold of two used slant bodied horizontal FCR39's with choke (enrichment) knobs designed for dirt bikes. Powerbarn provided a 2 into 1 throttle kit and Niche Cycle supplied manifold boots. After some fiddling they work well (on an M750 modified to dual sport). MikuniOz can sell everything to b...

Re: 750S Brought back to Life

I have also thought of putting on FCR39's but the TM-36 run fine and I'm enjoying the bike too much to dismantle everything just for the FCRs. I also was fighting to get the clutch piston and pressure plate to line up properly, and believed to have resolved the issue. Can't go without a little drama...

Re: 750S Brought back to Life

Great job and excellent update interpretation of the style. I note that it has Mikuni TM carbs. Are they TM36 or 38's and are you happy with them? What jetting did you have to run with pod filters? I am thinking about putting a kit together for 750 and 900 desmos as an alternative to the ...

Re: 750S Brought back to Life

I also think many riders on this forum have a bigger appreciation of the older stuff over modern machines, and happy such a place exists. I first saw the Paso in a black and white photo as part of modern Ducati history. That Paso, the 90's SS, and variants in between are what I see as classic Ducati.

Re: 750S Brought back to Life

Keith, I agree as well. I find ripping up a "slow" or older bike more fun than a modern high powered machine. Other similar bikes are my 900SS and Moto Guzzi V7 Racer, both of which I love tearing through the rev range. Like the 750S, they both have adjustable suspension matched to my weig...

Re: 750 Sport and Paso 14T Front Sprocket

If you know a machine shop, you can take a 14T SuperSport/748 Superbike front sprocket and machine it down to 750 Sport dimensions. Another option is 3D print one off a CAD file, using it as a template for machining. Just some options I thought could work. The first idea would be easier. You can buy...

Re: Clutch springs

The screws get tightened all the way down, but do so gradually in a hex pattern, tightening a few millimeters at a time. The screws are 8 nm, if you need a torque figure.

Re: 750S Brought back to Life

Very nice project. What forks did you use? I have got hold of some 17 inch wheels from a 600ss for my 750 sport. I may just go ahead with this mod initially. As posted elsewhere I think my only issue is machining a slice out of the original forks to get the speedo drive in. Again as previously post...
