Re: Yet another project

Very quick update in lieu of a new blog post soon! Lots of things happening in the workshop. But mainly, the 750 Sport is now complete, running, and has an MOT test: https://nronketti.files.wordpress.com/2023/04/img_20230407_105530.jpg The electrical gremlins last time out was, unsurprisingly, the f...

Re: Yet another project

hmmmm, or so I thought... Everything was going swimmingly. Until I bolted on the plastic cover for the rear seat. At which point the left hand switch unit and instrument cluster failed. I'm sure this is just a bit of Ducati humour. So the MOT test has been pushed back by a few weeks while I get the ...

Re: Yet another project

Time for another semi-regular update: the running lean mentioned in the previous post was nothing of the kind... all that happened is that the sensor was blown out the back of the pipe at 7000rpm. Spike, the dyno operator, realised this, and so ran it again with the sensor taped in place. Again, 60b...

Re: Yet another project

Very quick update in lieu of a blog post at some time: I decided some time ago to pop the bike on the dyno to at least check it would survive a run at load before I invested any money in tyres and the stator rebuild. So, last week I dropped it off with the chaps at Cambridge Motorcycles just to give...

Re: Oil leaks 89 900 ss

That looks bloody lovely! Nice work. And while I've currently made the choice to just bolt my 750 back together, rather than restore it, seeing work like this really gets me wondering whether I made the right choice! But yeah, I *think* I did - I can ride it for the summer, and then if I feel like i...

Re: Oil leaks 89 900 ss

Ohh that's *lovely*! I've been agonising over whether to do a proper job on the 750 Sport - and I may well do so once I've proven that it's a) not going to throw a rod on the first test run, and b) something that I enjoy riding and want to keep. Looking at this work is definitely edging me in that d...

Re: Yet another project

Well, there's been a bit more work on things since I last posted here - to the point where I've actually ridden the thing for the first time. Admittedly, it was around the yard in first gear, but hey, I'll take that as a step in the right direction! Hydraulics were surprisingly simple - the biggest ...

Re: Yet another project

Blimey, three months since the last update - and while there's all sorts of things that I can blame, actually I've just been making the most of a good summer! News in the garage is that firstly, the bike is back up on its wheels: https://nronketti.files.wordpress.com/2022/09/img_20220925_121623.jpg ...

Re: Yet another project

Well, after a whole lot of faffing and soul searching (and penny counting) I think I've made the decision to attempt to reuse the original forks, yokes and wheels, rather than convert to 17" front and rear. There are pros and cons to either - the 17" conversion is more future-proof for sur...

Re: Yet another project

Another slight update - https://nronketti.wordpress.com/2022/03/20/state-of-the-nation/ - basically not much has happened with the 750 other than trying to sort out a 900SS front end for it. The practical effects of which are that I now have three fork legs, one bent, one too short, and one OK. The ...

Re: 750 Sport restoration project

I sometimes wonder if HWY and myself are the only ones on here??. <waves from the sidelines!> I'm still very much reading this, but my build is held up for the time being while I do a bit of relocation of Italian bikes in the garage, and let funds recover :) I think it's kind of part of the Social ...

Re: 750 Sport restoration project

Blimey, that looks bloody lovely - I can only imagine what it must feel like to ride after such a lot of work. Nice one. Hope you sat in the garage with a cold beer at the end of the ride - I know that's what I'd have done!

Re: 750 Sport restoration project

<snip> I will need to get some proper fuel hose as the car type stuff I'm using doesn't like the bend it has to do to clear the rear cylinder from the fuel tap. I could turn the tap a bit but I try and leave things alone that don't need fixing plus it would make it hard to turn the fuel off. I also...

Re: Yet another project

Blimey, it is with no little surprise that I can report that the project just fired up, first time. No leaks. Nothing caught fire. Nothing fell off. Obviously still a long way to go, but this is certainly a bit of a milestone! https://nronketti.wordpress.com/2022/01/08/lux-prima/ for photos and a sh...

Re: Harness routing

That's great! Thanks, that's really helped. I've now got the loom at least heading in the right direction(s) so it's time to start on the carbs. (I'm not looking forward to this bit. I'm much happier sorting electrics than fuelling!)

Cheers,
