Re: 750 Sport refresh

Wow, that looks fantastic. I don't think it looked that good 27 years ago.

Re: 91 907 Gas Cap won't come off

yeah, my 907 had the same issue. the inside stamping was made at very tight tolerance to the gas cap and a sharp edge. I took the assembly off the tank and dressed some of the edges with a file to allow easier removal. Insertion was fine. Removal is now easier.

Re: 750 Sport refresh

Header diameters changed through the years, and frankly, I have no idea what the stock pipe diameter is/was, or what fit to them. I have some funny little adapter pipes that go from smaller to larger with a squiggle in them. Glad to contribute to a worth cause. Let me dig them up and get some dimens...

Most shops will charge you a lot less if you take all the body work off yourself before taking it to the shop. Tell them that when you call for a quote.

Re: 750 Sport refresh

Summit racing has some. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/mio-mmcp-2090bk $9 for silicone is a good price. Get a short bit of aluminum 2" tubing to make a joiner to some 2" air cleaners of your choice. You end up with 3 hose clamps on each one, but a pretty good laminar flow that contains...

Re: 750 Sport refresh

40mm is a lot. Extending a standard fork is usually possible to some degree. It's probably possible on a USD fork as well but for sure more complicated. (Unless it's non adjustible then you could probably correct that with higher end caps you'd need to fabricate) Remember that the change to a 17&qu...

Re: 750 Sport refresh

Indeed, the Sport has pretty slow steering, so shortening the forks will certainly speed up the steering. As long as you don't bottom out anything. I have my forks slid as high in the triples as I can get them and not have the forks bottom out. I did have an issue with one of the fenders that I had ...

Re: 750 Sport refresh

Wow, looks great. As with all bikes of this vintage, you come to a fork in the road. One says go back to stock and make a museum piece out of it. The other way is to hotrod it, and make a fun bike that you like to ride. Easy to argue either path, but hotrodding the 750 Sport is certainly worth the w...

750 Sport fairings on CL

Here is a posting for some 750 Sport fairings on the local Craigslist.
They are mis-labeled, but certainly from a 750 Sport.

I have no connection with the seller.

Re: Brembo 4 pot calipers

Good luck with that. I've seen them go for $50 and $500. They show up every once in a while, as they are fairly rare. Some people want to get rid of them, and some want them. The $50 set I picked up were in pristine condition that came off the first year 900SS 1991, on local Craigslist. Seller took ...

Re: 750 Sport refresh

Bike looks great. Rear huggers are pretty rare on this bike. Most people binned them as they were huge, and ugly. Haven't found a graceful replacement yet, as no other years fit, and the bolt pattern is odd. I see you have stock turn signals, which is uncommon. Most of those get broken and replaced....

Re: Help finding a couple parts

put a bit of moly lube on those bolts when you put them in to keep them from seizing up. or the copper anti-seize paste. That's why many old race bikes had copper plated fasteners. But zinc plate works well too. So if you change out those bolts to stainless, you need to add an anti-seize compound.

Re: Laid Up 900SS and new member!

Yes, certainly check the fuel pump function. One of those spigots on the tank is the return, one is the vent, and one is the tap from the pump. If the pump is not connected, or the hose is rotted away, you will only get about half a tank of mileage. You can not run that bike without a pump. If you h...
