Coolant temperature gauge

The talk about oil and coolant gauges in the Hi from Italy thread ( http://forums.ducatipaso.org/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=8165&start=15 ) made me decide to investigate why the gauge on my 907 has always read high. At switch on the needle goes straight to 175ºF and at running temperatures shows ar...

Re: VIN number

I've been working with Ducatis since the mid-seventies and I've never seen matching frame and engine numbers. That's not so say there were never any but I've never seen nor heard of them in 45 years.

Re: Require a new throttle cable. UK Based. 907ie

I have used mountain bike control cables , they are usually stainless ( can be soldered ), quite thin ,and come with a nipple fitted ( may or may not be useful ) but they are easily up to a throttle cable job , AND they are real cheap, and can be used as an inner ( use existing outer ) Good tip Ham...

Re: Charging/electrical question

I think you need a new battery. With the ignition off a good battery should be reading about 12.5V and it shouldn't drop substantially when the ignition is switched on, maybe to about 12.2 - 12.3V. After 15 seconds of cranking and then waiting 5 minutes the voltage should have returned to no less th...

Re: Hi from Italy!!

Hi Mc tool, I've seen that someone in the states has a massive amount of NOS Ducati/Cagiva parts. ;) ;) To bad it is quit expensive to get those send to Europe (P&P plus customs). But fortunately the old parts are relatively easy to restore as new (except anodising them again that is). Incident...

Re: 92 907IE front brake

Sorry Hamish, we'll have to agree to differ on this. Buggered if I'm going to strip the calipers and fit new seals every time I change the fluid, which is annually. Changing the fluid and cleaning the pistons regularly is preventative maintenance that helps keep them in good order for longer. Seals ...

Re: 92 907IE front brake

Yeah ok , but if your going to that much trouble why not just take the pistons right out and clean the whole thing out completely Moving the pistons out as far as you dare and cleaning them should be plenty. If the seals aren't leaking and the pistons are moving freely I think it's best to leave we...

Re: 92 907IE front brake

I agree with Davo. There is a considerable volume of fluid behind the pistons relative to the volume of the system. It not difficult to unmount the calipers, remove the pads and clean the pistons before pushing them back and it's good preventative maintenance to help prevent future problems with pot...

Re: Ducati belt engines - a nasty secret flaw?

I'm well aware of the possibility of a broken chain bunching up at the gearbox sprocket and smashing the cases and have seen a few examples, none of them mine fortunately. I have case savers fitted to all my bikes to help prevent this. What is news to me is that the plastic guide over the swinging a...

I didn't comment because I have a 907 but it has the same bolt fixing as shown in the Paso 750 as shown above.

I haven't got eccentric adjusters but that's a really nice explanation Hamish. I can picture them perfectly. :)

Nice. I see the bike has been fitted with USD forks and brakes from the later models. Should be a worthwhile improvement.
