Plug identification?
Hi there, can anyone tell me what the two plugs are that along the top frame rail on the lefthand side? Two identical with the C shaped spring clip joining them. One seems to go into the housing near the clutch slave. I think they are both labeled "Conne Commando" In the parts diagram, tha...

Re: Engine cutting out
well, this hasn't improved, staring jiggling the wiring in between the front of the seat and the back of the tank and the fuel pump started cutting in and out. Ok I'm onto something , thinks me!! Went to start it, it cranked a few times, and then, everything went out, no ignition, no dash lights not...

Engine cutting out
New issue has just started occurring, if the bike is idling, and I put it in first gear, sometimes the engine dies. It starts straight back up again, but if I keep engaging and disengaging first gear, after a few attempts it will die again. The other thing is while Im shifting in and out of gear , w...

Re: Clutch slave rubber boot??
thanks for that. After pulling the piston and tidying up the bore I have decided to replace the piston, seal and spring. Apparently I should replace the push rod O rings as well. The pushrod pulls out without too much resistance so the O rings will be a simple job, there are no oil leaks at the mome...

Clutch slave rubber boot??
Hi again guys, on my voyage of discovery I unbolted the clutch slave to see if it was leaking, (Id lost clutch about 5 years ago and had to refill and bleed it up). It appears there was no leak of fluid, but it must have gone somewhere? Is this normal for it to disappear over the years. The other thi...

Oil change dramas
as per the manual I undid the 21mm nut and found that it took a lot of jiggling and force to remove the plug and oil screen. It got stuck at about 3/4 of the way out and wouldn't go back in either? I ended up applying a lot more pulling power and it popped out intact, but I was lucky I'm sure. Why i...

Re: Sluggish starter
Good news story, I pulled the positive wire from the battery to the solenoid and the one from the solenoid to the starter. The connections didn't look obviously bad, just a little scaly. Got stuck into them while I was there with a file and wire brush anyway, not expecting anything much to have chan...

Sluggish starter
Bike I am reassembling at the moment has a sluggish starter. Its always been the case for the past 5 years or so since I purchased it.It always starts, but as you push the button, its almost like the battery is flat as nothing happens and then it cranks over and fires. Its not the battery as I have ...

Re: Fork oil level
10Wt, but I haven't ridden it yet, its a work in progress. FYI its approximately 375mls per side, I just used a 5ml syringe with a piece of aquarium tubing cut 180mm long and sucked out the excess.

Fork oil level
Looking at changing the oil in my MIR forks, manual states 160mm for oil level. Is that measured from the top of the tube with the front wheel off the ground? And both forks the same? thanks.

Re: Emptying fuel tank
Funny, I never thought of siphoning, as these days you generally accept that fuel tank apertures rarely will fit a hose. Forgetting Im dealing with a 27 year old bike. Hopefully its just bad fuel?
