A red hot exhaust pipe is indeed an indication something is quite wrong. Excessive heat can be caused by a wrong mixture, when the mixture is too lean the combustion temp will rise, when the mixture is too rich the unburned fuel can ignite in the exhaust trajectory (afterburn), also causing a temp. ...

Jay, The frame of the Paso looks very similar to the ones used on the Cagiva Elefants. The engines on these have the stubs that contain the swingarm bearings on Ducati's (which have the swingarm directly on the engine, not in the frame) milled off. That is more or less the main difference. Check the...

Hi Mazza, Congratulations with your first Ducati, you'll enjoy it for sure. Be carefull messing with the efi system , it is quite complex and easier upset than set up :-). I've been studying the efi system for quite some time now, and I understand most of it (Cagiva 900ie elefant, identical efi syst...
Hi Graeme, Sorry to hear about that, breaking a chain always gives nasty (and often expensive) repair jobs. Last friday a friend of mine with a cagiva Elefant 900ie (almost identical engine) had the same, he'll be looking at swapping the engine casings unfrtunately. Just removing the flywheel cover ...

The advert states clearly that it was done by an overseas distributor, not the factory. If memory serves me right, I've seen this colorscheme on several bikes in Holland, including the black painted front and the small wind deflector. I believe that the former dutch distributor made a few of these. ...

Not too difficult: Take bodywork and tank etc. off, remove belt covers (dunno if you need to remove frame parts for this). Slacken belt tensioners, best is to remove them completely (2 bolts each, 1x pivot, 1x tension lock). Remove belts (this can be a bit of a hassle, to get them over the pulleys, ...

It sounds to me that your cps or rpm sensor is having trouble keeping up with the engine speed, giving faulty info to the ECM. I would recommend checking the sensors and wiring. If the pump is not delivering enough fuel (or the filter is obstructing), the power would simply be decreased first, witho...

For the regulator you could check any Ducati dealer, they should be able to provide you the current standard Ducati regulato, however you will lose the function on your voltage ligth in your dashboard. A good alternative is the one from Electrex. You are looking for RR51. http://www.electrexusa.com ...

The elefant logo tells you these are original Ducati / Cagiva mufflers. Because Ducati was owned by Cagiva for quite some time, this logo can be found on lots of Ducati parts as well. If the front and end pieces are put inside the brushed aluminium pipe than these are probably from a Ducati SS or mo...

If the fuel consumption suddenly has risen, than I suggest you check the water temp sensor of the fuel injection. If this failes, the ECU will think it is much colder (even below zero) and richen the mixture, resulting in bad running and excessive fuel consumption. You can find datasheets of the sen...
