Re: 888 for sale?
sorry to hear Rhino - please don't think knee is 'it' though as had career ending injuries 20 years ago unfortunately and have had Morphine for just as long. Neither of us can complain though tbh - you only have to read up on Hamish (McTool) or Don if you need convincing. Chris thought I better add ...

Re: 888 for sale?
Hello Rhino Nice reply :) sorry to hear about your anatomical indifferences, as you say you can still admire her until she goes happy in the knowledge that at least you ticked it off your bucket list. I am nursing a poorly right knee and I was surprised at how fully tucked up your legs have to be wi...

Re: 888 for sale?
so have you got to see her yet? - unbelievably one also fell into my lap about a month ago, funny how things happen. The bodywork is not as clean as yours and it's a single seat version from 1989. I read on some sites about choke levers but mine doesn't have one. I am wrestling with a leaking radiat...

Re: crack in the swingarm
i'm going to stick my neck out here and say that I think that it is unusual to see a crack in that location - I think there's a chance that was possibly due to some aftermarket welding following an accident as it's also rare to normally see a blowhole/void in a welding run like that. The early 'wron...

Re: Clunck-oilspill-engine-no-more
If you meticulously study the cracks you will get a clue as to how it failed. depending what revs you were doing when it failed - in gear/out of gear will determine a lot. It's possible it was flung out centrifugally due to crack(s)?. I wouldn't run without a woodruff key personally - let's hear wha...

Re: starting problems
are you talking about the infamous starter sprag? - is the starter failing to turn over engine and making a noise you havent heard before? Unless it's been doing it for some time then you may be able to shorten the tensioner spring that runs around it's perifery. I will try and find a link to show t...

'scruffed some mutts' - now there's a new term for me H.. I guess it's all down to the imagination sometimes innit? At my age you will have probably guessed that i've 'dusted some ornaments' in my time as well  By the way - are there ever any girls on this Forum? (probably not with referenc...

Re: Norway callling! 400 Sport
but the bit I was getting at Fraser, is that they were desirable in Japan at that size for Tax and Licencing reasons rather than the company thinking that the concept of the bike at that size was a good idea :- Engine size: Over 125cc up to 400cc Motor Vehicle Law: Ž©“®“ñ—ÖŽÔ (JIDOU NIRINSHA) Road T...

Re: Norway callling! 400 Sport
i'm not sure if it was the sole reason, but certainly one of the factors involved in creating such a small capacity version was it's suitability for the (then) Japanese market where a great deal were sold.
