Re: UK Spec headlight

Later model headlamps are not the same size as the 89-90 Sport. No other model of Ducati will fit, that I know of. I had the heartbreak of watching my headlamp crash to the pavement when I was working on my bike one day. Took a bit to find a new one. I even bought an 851 one, but that wasn't the rig...

Yup, sounds right. its a pretty big battery for the bike, but seems to work well.

Re: del lorto's on a 750 sport

The 32's will run just fine. The only place you will miss out a bit is in the top end. It will carburate just fine at idle and mid range. I doubt you will be pinning the redline on a 25 year old bike anyway. Think of it as a rev limiter of sorts. Here is a link to a tuning guide for the Dellorto's. ...

Re: Carmo "replacer" units?

I replaced my Digiplex 2S ECU last year with a new one, and indeed it made a difference. I think the diaphragm was dead on the old one making the vacuum advance non-operational. Our friend in Australia had a few of them. They were only $150, but he had only a few of them.

Re: Waterless Coolant experiment

from a recommendation from a KTM factory mechanic, I am using Engine Ice.
Propylene Glycol. pre mixed. Don't really have any other data to vote for or against it. It is non toxic, and its probably in your shampoo.
I don't recommend shampoo for coolant though.

Re: 90 900 Supersport Tidy-up

All looking good. Get a tube of silicone grease for those connectors. You may find it at the auto parts store labeled Tune Up Grease, or your Harley Dealer called Dielectric Grease. Good on sparkplug caps too. It keeps connections free of moisture, and corrosion. Of course clean off all connectors f...

Re: clutch problem

Or the old school way is to take your bike apart, and take good notes on the order of the discs, and then compare the replacement pack you have to see which parts you will need, and which you will not. There may be only 6 of one kind of plate, but then 7 of the other, which would be 13. Later models...

Re: Valve adjustment - do it myself or dealer??

My local shop does if for $150 plus parts if he has to change some of them. He's faster than I would be, and since valve adjustment is a bit of a touch/feel thing, I leave it to him. The interval that Ducati recommends is only applicable if you run at redline a lot. Otherwise, you can easily double ...

Re: UK Ebay Project

Barn find indeed. Has Dellortos on it. That's kind of what mine looked like when I bought it. Its been repainted, so all the body work is suspect, and the missing gas cap makes the tank a rust bucket. no small project. Buy it for your bike crazy 15 year old, and have them rebuild it by the time they...

Re: 907IE for sale here (What shall i do???) :-)

Hmm, tough choice. If you have the room, then by all means, buy it. Since its your cousin, you should talk him down in price and tell him you are saving it for him when he's more able to appreciate it. Maybe you will find someone who is in love with the bike and sell it to a good candidate. Cheers, ...

Re: Beautiful Paso with a broken engine case... what do I do

There's always breakers like Ed Millich who usually has a motor. http://www.ebay.com/itm/ducati-paso-750-motor-engine-/231617134750?hash=item35ed75009e:g:P9MAAOSw~gRVnexS&vxp=mtr Have you checked with some of the your local breakers? Putting a post in Craigslist sometimes gets a few reluctant ow...

Re: Beautiful Paso with a broken engine case... what do I do

5 speed motors are narrower than the 6 speed motors, but same bolt patter/spacing. As mentioned, if you put in some other motor, be sure to check the chain line, which you might anyway since you tossed a chain, and a bad chain line can create that very problem. Since you have a 14t sprocket, it was ...

Re: Beautiful Paso with a broken engine case... what do I do

Yeah, that would take more than 2 tubes. :-P  The outer case is easier to find than the center case, and those are matched when they make them, so getting only one side isn't a good idea. Finding a spare engine is your best bet. Since a Paso motor fits only a Paso, it will be either really ch...

Re: Beautiful Paso with a broken engine case... what do I do

The pivot is the swingarm pivot which is in the cases just behind the sprocket. Different years and models did it a bit differently. The Sport was the same as the 750 F1 and Pantahs, with bushings in the cases, and the pivot pin moved with the swingarm. But on the Paso, the bearings are in the swing...
