Re: Back into my 89 900 Supersport

Yeah, well, if you cut and weld, then moving that cross brace forward looks to be a reasonable course of action. I think the only reason that brace is not further forward, was the original size of the battery needed, and you have downsized that quite a bit. if you need some CrMo tubing, and old bic...

Re: FCR fitment

Guys are the racked FCR's supposed to fit in the 750/900. Just pulling the Mikunis out this afternoon to replace with FCR's on my 900 and they do not fit up. Theey hit the battery tray straps before they fit into the rubber mounts properly. I've been searching but haven't come across it yet. I expe...

Re: FCR fitment

Beautiful work!
Maybe K&N pods would flow better than the foam pods. Might be an option for a street bike. Maybe using a Lithium battery might free up some space for bigger filters.

Re: capacity engine

Looking forward to watching this project progress. It's great that you can bounce your ideas and thoughts around in a forum like this. I would agree that you should study the work of engine builders and tuners mentioned in this thread. Check their websites and examine the motor recipes they have use...

Re: capacity engine

Check out J D Hords website for his hot 750SS (795 motor). Also Bikeboy.org for his hot 750 with big valves and 900 cams. Guys on the Monster forum tell me that hi comp pistons and 695/800 heads work well. They say the 695/800 heads bolt onto 750 barrels, but you need higher comp pistons due to the ...

Re: Tuning a Mikuni with Wideband sensor for AFR

Just some thoughts. On an M900 with open airbox, I tested the smaller pilot/slow jets (35-37.5) and they worked well in summer and crap in winter. The 40 slow jets worked well in Autumn/Spring, but rough, doughy down low in Summer. The 42.5s seemed to work well in Winter, but fouled plugs in Summer :...

Re: Mikuni lean spot & pod filter #'s

If you haven't already, try a 40 pilot/slow jet to get rid of that off idle lean spot and now you can go back to needle posn #4 (or even #3). You may need to use posn #4 with pods or a modified airbox and K&N or similar filter. Sometimes oem needle jets wear oval and cause excess fuel consumptio...

Re: Normal temp various speeds?

Hey Gert!

The impeller. I would check to make sure the thermostat isn't sticking shut or sticky as in opening late. Also, some coolants don't last as long as others. May be time for a good cooling system flush while you are checking everything.

Re: Dellorto or Mikuni TM?

Powerbarn identified the TMs I have as TM38s (TM38/85 model). Interestingly, they are 39.7mm at the bore through to the spigot with a 62mm bellmouth. Thats alot of carb and effectively 40mm. The BDST CV are about 37.5mmish by comparison. The nice fellow at Powerbarn sas very helpful, he said the act...
