Re: 88 Paso swingarm u-bolt
The swingarm is indeed the same for the 750 and 906, so the caps are identical, thankfully. Funny you should mention the rear sprocket bolts; they were all loose. Did not know that was a thing with these, now I do. Also fun has been sourcing the 42x16x20 rear wheel bearings. Not available through an...

Re: 88 Paso swingarm u-bolt
The silence is deafening ... apparently not available anywhere? I couldn't find a source. I appreciate of course that they're not actually "bolts" but rather saddle clamps or similar, but Ducati calls them U-bolts in the parts manual. Anyway, at the moment used Paso swingarms are fairly ea...

88 Paso swingarm u-bolt
Does anyone know where I might procure a u-bolt for the swingarm on an 88 Paso? It's the saddle/u-bolt that wraps around the rear axle eccentric and secures to the swingarm. Ducati part # is 037040225 but I don't seem to be able to source one.

Re: 1988 Paso Runs - Jetting Questions - Mikuni TM38 flat sl
So a more thorough search of the archives yields lots of information for the CV-type Mikunis as used in later Ducs and on Yamahas, but absolutely nothing about the TM series flat slides. I'm surprised there's isn't some information out there? The carbs on my bike - TM38 - were purchased by a previou...

Re: 1988 Paso Runs - Jetting Questions
I think someone not so long ago put some of these carbs on a 750 sport engine. He may have put the setting s as well. I did start to search for it on here then decided that would be a nice job for you to do  Ahh, gonna make me work for a living, eh? I hadn't thought to search the other forums,...

1988 Paso Runs - Jetting Questions
Well, to my utter surprise my new to me '88 Paso runs. Had to repair some rodent damage to the wiring. Installed new timing belts, confirmed valve clearance. Removed the Mikuni TM38 flat slides that came with it, removed float bowls expecting the usual grunge from years of sitting, but they were pri...

Re: 1988 Paso Valve Clearances
Thanks for the input. Based on experience with other engines the numbers I got didn't seem far enough off to warrant a readjust, but not really knowing these engines or how tolerant they are I was interested in experienced opinions. From what I've learned, a previous owner sent the heads out to a sh...

1988 Paso Valve Clearances
I've searched the forum for a possible answer to this question, but maybe I'm using the wrong key words as I've come up empty. The question isn't what are the specified clearances, it's what, in the experience of those, well, more experienced, is too tight? Just checked the valves, and all of the op...

Re: 1988 Ducati Paso 750 timing belt idler bearing part numb
Thanks for the tips/insight. Might go a different direction. I've checked the overall specs of the fixed pulley for later 2-valve engines and it looks like one can simply update. It's 1mm shorter and 1mm larger OD, which shouldn't cause any issues. Bevel Heaven sells the Flennor 45120211A-Z for $49....

Re: 1988 Ducati Paso 750 timing belt idler bearing part numb
Ok, good info. Being a Ducati newbie "d.m." and "f.m." meant nothing to me; now I know. Problem is getting the first bearing out. There's really no visible space between the two, and since they both have the same inside diameter - and only 8mm at that - it's tough to get any purc...

Re: 1988 Ducati Paso 750 timing belt idler bearing part numb
Looking at the parts diagram, it would appear to show two different idler bearings schemes; one with the bearings in a sleeve (d.m.) and one with the bearings exposed (f.m.) Drawings in the factory repair manual (F.4) appear to show idlers without a sleeve. The part number for the bearings in both s...

Re: 1988 Ducati Paso 750 timing belt idler bearing part numb
Good point; me either. I have a blind puller, not sure if I have an adapter small enough. Maybe heat up the sleeve first? Be nice to see inside a blank sleeve to see just how it's made.

Re: 1988 Ducati Paso 750 timing belt idler bearing part numb
That looks like it, thanks! I'd just done a quick measurement before your reply and the specs line up. My comment about whether there's a limiting stop were made from a faulty memory that the bearings were inset from the outer face of the sleeve; they're not. I'm going to hope I'm right in assuming ...

1988 Ducati Paso 750 timing belt idler bearing part number
Does anyone have an alternate part number for the timing belt idler bearings for an '88 Paso? The original bearings are FAG 63018, but that part number no longer appears active, even on the FAG site. Looks like the factory part number bearings (751710827) are available from Ducati dealers, but they'...

Re: Timing belt parts for 1988 Paso
Yeah, I do know what to feel for, I guess it was more of a "what to expect" question, which in hindsight is kind of a stupid question; I'll find out when I finally check. I've done the seal removal/regrease on other bearings with success, as well.
