Re: changing rear caliper

G'day Brutus Please reconsider your decision to alter the position of your back wheel. There has been many ideas and suggestions discussed on this forum about changing tyres and the associated work that has to be done to make them fit,I think your idea has to be the worst option.I have just completed...

Thanks Jon
But I've already fitted the Ryco filter.I took the bike for a decent ride yesterday to test all the tyre mods that I've done and had no dramas with the oil filter.

Some of them have (or need) a "non retourn" valve inside and this might cause serious pressure troubles to your engine!
So does the original filter have a non return valve in it?

Re: How much is enough

did you fix the rear end of the swingarm with a large spacer while doing that ? I would be afraid that the swingarm ends would move inwards when applying pressure to the middle section. I did have a block of wood jammed in between the arms to stop them from pulling in when I welded it.They still pu...

Alternative oil filter

I did an oil change yesterday and since I'm 3 1/2 hours from the nearest Ducati shop I went for an alternative oil filter.I used the parts interchange as a guide with no success, but what I did find was that this filter from Ryco was almost identical to the original. http://www.rycofilters.com.au/cat...

Re: How much is enough

Just thought I let you know how I'm getting on with this. Thanks for all the advice.  You need to be mindful of the chain running in a straight and true alignment with the 2 sprockets. Running them offset will give you problems. The tire at the front cross section just doesn't have...

Re: How much is enough

G'day Antti, Thanks.Polishing those parts was a long, painful exercise which consisted of sanding all the anodising off the aluminium using 180,380,600 grit wet n dry. Then I used a high speed wax buff to bring it up to a mirror shine.During the whole process I lost several layers of skin off my finge...

Re: How much is enough

I tried turning the sprocket around to gain more clearance but this has been known to put unwanted stress on the bolts causing them to break. A better option is to get a spacer made up. http://i558.photobucket.com/albums/ss26/Duc906/DSC01684.jpg http://i558.photobucket.com/albums/ss26/Duc906/DSC0168...

How much is enough

Hi all, I have just fitted new tyres to my 906 and I was after some advice on how much gap is enough ie:between tyre and cross piece in the swingarm and tyre and chain. The reason I'm asking is I don't want to fork out for a new chain if I don't have to.The rear cam adjuster is in the 6 o'clock posit...

G'day everyone, I've owned my 906 since '91 and have enjoyed every moment I've been on it.It had done 2800 km when I bought it and it has only just clocked 41000.I've only just discovered the tyre saga as I was invited to a track day at Philip Island and decided to get some fresh rubber.I'm not allo...
