Re: 1988 Paso 750 airbox gasket placement and accelerator pump lever pivot point
Yeah, there's the rub; OCD and up all night. But hey, keeps me out of the bars. Well, that and COVID. Anyways, thanks for the Passini push, I don't have either of those. Used copies appear to be readily available and cheap at around $15 (Amazon lists a new hardcover copy for $482.59!!). More good ma...

Re: 1988 Paso 750 airbox gasket placement and accelerator pump lever pivot point
I think you're right, Mc tool, it does seem to be a can of worms, but for some reason I'm compelled to see if I can make it work, in large measure because I actually like the Weber installation better. The dual Mikuni TM flat slides it's currently wearing work great, but the only air filters I can f...

Re: 1988 Paso 750 airbox gasket placement and accelerator pump lever pivot point
Yes, the parts catalog does indeed show that, which I somehow missed, thanks. And yes, both Webers have the same numbers stamped on the float: 44 DCNF 110 7H. As to the accelerator pump lever, I'm just curious if one position is better than the other. I would think more stroke would be better, but ....

1988 Paso 750 airbox gasket placement and accelerator pump lever pivot point
I'm back to trying to fit the Weber on my Paso, and a tear-down has uncovered a few possible issues including incomplete cleaning, and the throttle shaft is bent. Looking at how the airbox mounts to the carburetor, it's unclear to me where the gasket for the airbox is supposed to sit. Is it supposed...

Re: Has anyone tried an engine swap?
I've wondered about that myself, and whether one could fit a 900 Monster engine? There are plenty of them out there.

Re: 1988 Paso - First Ride
Thanks! It's really a delight to ride and it's running spectacularly, although it is developing a minor oil leak, appears to possibly be coming from the case halves ...

OK, I'm dumb; attachments are easy. Couple pics for fun. I'm loving this bike.

Re: 1988 Paso - First Ride
As it turns out, a little searching on the inner tube uncovers a fair amount of discussion on the subject of Mikuni flat slide carbs emitting knocking/clicking/ticking noises. Conversation on some of the Harley forums suggests it's normal, at least on those big twins. I'm pretty certain that's what ...

Re: Paso Fairing Fittings - Well Nuts
I found some 12mm well nuts at an outfit in Ohio. A little grease and they fit nicely.

Re: 1988 Paso - First Ride
Good eye on the pipes. When I got the bike it was wearing a set of aftermarket Supertrapps. They were in perfect shape but didn't look right so I started looking for replacements. I found a vendor who sent me what I think were 906 mufflers; they had a shorter inlet and wouldn't reach the header pipe...

1988 Paso - First Ride
Finally, after a year and several months since acquisition, I got to ride my new to me 1988 Paso. When I acquired it last year it hadn't been ridden since 2003. I bought it because it was very complete and showing only 7,028 miles. And it was white with a red seat, the color combo I wanted. I install...

Re: Paso Fairing Fittings - Well Nuts
I can find 6mm well nuts no problem, but they're all made for a larger hole size and won't fit fixing points on the gas tank. At least the one I got will not compress enough to fit. It appears it needs to fit an 11mm hole, not a 12.5 as most of what I'm finding is specified for.

Paso Fairing Fittings - Well Nuts
Does anybody know where I can get the correct well nuts to secure the side panels to the gas tank on my '88 Paso? They're smaller than currently available "standard" 6mm well nuts, which seem to come in at around 12.5 to 12.7mm; the fixing holes in the gas tank are approx. 10.5 to 11mm.

Re: 1988 Paso Ignition Issues
So I installed the Weber. Actually, I installed 2 Webers; the original that came with the bike and a spare I stumbled onto for silly cheap. I expected the original to perform poorly, as a previous owner or someone had screwed the fuel/air mixture screws in so tight they were actually blowing out the...

Re: 1988 Paso Ignition Issues
Well, it turned out to be an electrical issue after all. Reinstalled the Mikuni flat slides, fresh o-rings on the manifolds and both slides set exactly the same using the drill bit method. Fired right up - on the rear cylinder only. Rechecked compression just in case I'd gotten a faulty reading prev...
