Re: Fork upgrade 40mm MR1BB
...........Always a joy to see no copper washer and loads of silicone.. yeah like the idiot who fixed by siliconing, then carefully filling , skimming , masking (not to ruin the labels..) and painting (two coats) the underside of my gas tank 750 Sport "nuovo" the "job" was so we...

Re: 89 900 decal kit
it is very unlikely you will find a set (unless it is a repro) as they were originally sold under single part numbers. besides, some of the decals were used by other models (851, 906, etc) have you tried looking for the codes indicated on the spare parts manual? Re: Starter Motor ( I need ideas, help)
Its Alive!!!   I got tjhe kit from ELectrex, being a little OCD i decided it was "not good enough" and made a slight mod using a couple of bits from the old set, my starter is late 80s so there are very slight differences... having said that, the kit went on fin...

Re: Starter Motor ( I need ideas, help)
aha! got to the root of the problem. the brushes are gone, completely to the point they barely touch. the starter looks good, very well made, the internal wiring looks intact and with the protective resin in a good condition despite the age. the commutator (the copper bit where the brushes make cont...

Re: Starter Motor ( I need ideas, help)
I checked the solenoid, that works and I also went direct with a car battery. No go. I attempted moving the engine but still no life from the starter. Usually if these things burn they do it in stages so I would still have some kind of load that can be seen when the lights are on but in my case ther...

Starter Motor ( I need ideas, help)
I got this project I am working on, it is an SS made with 10 different models and which engine is made using half PASO 750 half early Elefant 750...hence my posting here. after some time of not starting the "thing" today I tried to cranck it and the starter was completely dead. when I say ...

Re: Timing belts
I am afraid you will have to go for the OEM ones, Gates makes them specificly for Ducati and none of the other brands will fit properly. There is ONLY one alternative I know of and has been developed by Chris @ California CycleWorks, they are good and cheaper that OEMs, but I am not sure they have t...

Re: Brake disk rubbing
Years ago I was in a tyre shop looking a "professional" working on a 906 rear tyre. The way they worked around that bike was so bad I vowed to never let a "professional" tyre fitter touch my bike; the sad part is that it was a very well regarded shop and later on I discovered tha...

Re: No spark on one cylinder!
Ok... some time ago my dad bought me a "just serviced in excellent condition" SS750S (the poor's man one) sold to him by an acquaintance who had a nice garage and "he knew VERY well his way around engines since he was a professional" Anyway 3 months later I manage to find the tim...

Re: A thought that came to me
no, what I meant to say is that, whatever past a vehicle has, the first thing is to check the maintenance and safety, then ride / Drive it.
then and only then you can worry (if you need to) about it.

Re: A thought that came to me
my guess is that you have to go with the flow... I got my 907ie with 2 previous owners and my SS had 6... the 907 was pretty original, not perfect but it was OK. The SS , on the other hand... was...umpf... :banghead: I could not send it back as received it few months after the purchase as a Xmas pre...

Re: Replacement 906 coolant hoses?..
if you can find the original parts then it is the best solution, however there is also the "old way"..... you take the old hoses to a small but well stocked car parts supplier and check for hoses that are close to what you are after, you might need to modify them a little , but with some l...

Re: As long as we're talking carbuerators...
you need to check few things : - sparkplugs, check if both are the same color, the darker the richer; if one appear much paler in colour then you might have an airleak somewhere or the carb is delivering less fuel. - engine off, check if the carbs shut completely when opening and closing the throttl...

Re: Frame number
Thanks, I did what you recommended and spoke with Ducati, and they told me that the motorcycle is 1987. BUT, for some reason I'm still not sure. iook at the attached paper. what is it? why it is Written 1986 and 1987? That is a form that is needed to register a motorcycle to the FMI, Federazione Mo...
