DVLA !!!!! DATING CERTIFICATE

Post by Jed61 »

After submitting my V55/5 three times !!!! I’ve now been informed that I need a dating certificate as the DVLA won’t accept the Spanish papers I had with the bike . They previously returned my application because they said it wasn’t on the NOVA system which I had already checked and was clearly on the system.
So does anyone know where I obtain a dating Certificate from for my Paso 750 any help will be much appreciated :banghead:

Why do they make registering a bike such a pain in the UK? The last bike I reregistered they told me that if there was any duty now or in the future I would be liable for it on a £325.00 eBay purchase!

The worse thing they ever did was centralize everything at Swansea  They clearly cant cope with the work load ,taking 3 weeks to process anything ........Bring back the local offices ,at least yiu could actually talk to a person face to face and resolve the issues :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Member of the Ducati Owners Club UK ?

This may also assist Ian Falloon's "Standard Catalog of Ducati Motorcycles" (ISBN 087349-714-7). Which if you put in the search will show various posts I imagine which should show proof of build date which may be close to date of legally on the road hopefully.

Write to Ducati, explain the issue and they will send you a letter stating the production date.

Many years ago they did that for my 907 , they are the only ones that can certify that.

now , WHAT WOULD I DO?

forget the DVLA , get a good Paso frame on ebay (I got one for 75 quid including V5), swap things around while doing some maintenance (bearings headstock and swinging arm) and maybe a light restoration and hei presto... you got a UK bike while having fun...

but that is me, I like playing with my toys.... :truck: :truck:

If I had known the DVLA were going to be A holes I would’ve done the frame thing but seeing as it’s just been rebuilt I’m determined to get it registered on an age related plate

In that case just follow the procedure.

the DOC in UK will help, it is just extra burocracy.

Gee its no wonder you guys are all immigrating over here :D . To get my 850t Guzzi legal...... , I had the bike and some bills related to work done some 13 years prior , and had a bit of verbal history ( whole nother story there :) ) I had to get a letter from the police stating that it was not "a vehicle of interest " , and take it to a vehicle testing station for a standard warrant of fitness ( a 6 monthly vehicle safety test ) and get a motorcycle mechanic to do a " brake declaration "( actually pull the brakes apart to see the condition rather than just seeing that they work as in the w o f ) . They then fit a new vin plate , and its pay the man and ride off. Interestingly the cops searched the bike on the rego plate that was on it ( which turned out to be issued to a trailer ) and not the frame number stamped into it .........go figure
