Multiple?? electrical problems

Post by lleach »

Two problems at this time - the Digiplex unit will get very warm to the touch and sometimes the motor will shut down - no spark. Sit until the unit gets cool, I have only tried overnight, and the bike fires right up. Also, the hot lead to the regulator from the power source gets very warm to the touch. Not hot enough yet to blow the 30A fuse. When I got the bike the previous owner had put in a 40A fuse to compensate, I guess.
Are the two problems related? I have talked with a person locally that indicated that these bikes had a problem with the alternator not having enough output for the draw.
I am open to suggestions.

Thanks

Mike,

I hope you are back in the saddle soon (try the K1100RS first as it is easier to find replacement panels  )
