intermittent ignition

For some reason I am having a problem with my ignition being intermittent. I thought it was the ground to the ECU’s but it checks good. When I cranked it over it wouldn’t seem to fire so I stuck a screw driver in the coil wire to check for spark and nothing. Messed with the wiring to look for bad connection and still nothing the right in the middle of cranking it, POW, ignition and spark. Hook the wire back up to the plug and it runs for a few seconds then dies check for spark again and nothing. Anyone have any suggestions?
