I need help please. I just purchased a 1988 Paso 750. Can someone tell me the correct procedure to remove the rear wheel? I do have the large allen wrench from the tool kit. I am guessing you start by loosening the pinch bolts? Then what? Thank you

To make things a little easier, I always remove the two brake caliper bolts and slide the brake caliper off of the rotor, first.

I generally will leave the pinch bolts tight until I break loose the right (brake side) nut on the axle (if you loosen the pinch bolts first, you can get the whole assembly to rotate in the swingarm). Then, I loosen the left side pinch bolts and knock-out/slide the axle out from the left side of the bike with the accentric still attached. I do this to prevent any possible binding between the rear brake bracket and axle. For some reason, I have had some issues with that happening, which makes removal of the axle a royal PITA.

Once the axle is out, you have to roll the wheel forward, slide the chain off of the sprocket and move it over the swingarm a little to clear the sprocket. Then lift the brake caliper bracket out of the assembly, and roll the rear wheel out from under the bike.

THANK YOU! Piece of cake. Did it already. The $*&^% Ducati factory repair manual lists step by step instructions and tells you to loosen pinch bolts first. Argghhhh.
