Definitive Clutch Plate Sequence

Post by speedtrifle »

I have had another look at our clutch and after another conversation with Baines I now understand that my previous posting was not entirely correct.

The thicker plain plates are FLAT. There are two dished plates but they are 1.5mm thick.

There is a dot on one tooth of the dished plate and this marks the INSIDE of the dish.

The correct plate sequence is as follows:-

OUTSIDE
-+-Friction/Plain Plate (Friction side in)-+-
/--------Dished Plate (Dot facing IN)-------\
+++++++++ Friction Plate ++++++++++
------------------ Plain Plate -------------------
+++++++++ Friction Plate ++++++++++
------------------ Plain Plate -------------------
+++++++++ Friction Plate ++++++++++
------------------ Plain Plate -------------------
+++++++++ Friction Plate ++++++++++
======== Thick Plain Plate =========
+++++++++ Friction Plate ++++++++++
======== Thick Plain Plate =========
+++++++++ Friction Plate ++++++++++
\____Dished Plate (Dot facing OUT)____/
INSIDE

I hope this clears up any previous misinformation.

Regards,

Steve.
