Just shows how much we are being ripped off here in the UK
Well, just a guess but I would expect that tires made in Korea, as these are reported to be, would ship direct to the US.

Shipping rates are incredibly cheap Asia to US; a small container is $3,000 (20' length).

I would also expect that tires to the UK would probably go thru a European distributor before being trucked to you.

Does the UK have any of those crazy "approvals" requirements like I've read about here, where the tire must be certified for the specific vehicle? We don't have anything like that in the US. The only thing we have is the DOT.

The tire manufacturer simply confirms to the DOT that a tire "passes" the Federal Standards. There is only government involvement if there are tire problems and an investigation.

Read this letter below. It is not for Goldentyre, it is for another manufacturer. But it shows the DOT's stance on all of this:

a bit off topic but I`m wondering why a GT071 in 160/60-15 costs only about half of a GT071 in 160/60-16.
Is that just supply and demand ?!

Well shut my mouth! $390 a set with shipping included is a great deal considering the options, which I'm sure everyone here has already.

Mytyres.co.uk online price is £397.90 per set (equivalent to $642.12 or 492.54 Euros) when their german sister company Reifendirekt.de quotes them as 338.80 Euros per set. I cant believe this price difference is due to shipping costs as it CANNOT be more expensive to ship to the UK from Italy than it is to the USA. Sad thing is that when the tyres were first listed in the UK they were comparable to the Euro price but the price was then hiked up. I fully accept that companies are in business to make a profit but this just feels wrong

ps reifdirekt wont ship to the UK, say you have to use guess who? yep mytyres.co.uk
I have already posted the details and I will do it again, just for sake of information.

there is a distributor of MOTORCYCLE ONLY tires in Italy and they sell the set for 267 euros or thereabouts INCLUDING VAT ; in GB money its 204 quid.

I remember talking to them some years ago and they told me they can ship everywhere, they charge 12EU for Italy and for the foreign countries they will need to provide a specific quotation depending on the country but my guess is that the UK is not a problem.

They advertise the Gorldentires for Paso with the following part#s:

- G1G70631 130/60 16 zr 58w GT 070 front priced at 123.42EUROS
- G1G70666 160/60 16 zr 68w GT 071 Rear priced at 143.99EUROS

They have contracts with UPS for shipping and I am preatty sure that they can get them across EU with little money using the road & truck service (3-5days?)

I would send them an email ( info@nikpneumatici.com) and see what do they say.

I purchase all my tires from them and they have always provided an excellent service.

I forgot, their website is in Italian but has a section for english speakers; all the stock is shown in real time and the GT tires are in stock at the moment.

i purchased 2 sets yesterday with paypal. $390/set no tax+no shipping: seems like a fair price. Couldn't afford it really, but i considered this good luck and a good value/investment. just wanted to share my doings with y'all.

Goldentyre USA Steven Higbee, the container is scheduled to arrive tomorrow morning. As soon as we sort it out your set of tires will be on your way. Look for a tracking # in your email on Monday. Thank you for your patience.

I just received 2 sets of 16'ers for my Paso. Thanks GoldenTyre!. The look like the real thing. I'll measure and compare them to the old Michelin A/M 59s later today. :)

Why would they be gone ? Is this because of low stocks, limited production or something like that ?

We imported quite few sets but they are going fast. If you need a set soon, we suggest to order them sooner rather than later. If you don't need one soon than we will have more in the next shipment.

It is just an heads up.

Thanks for checking.
