my restored Paso

Hi fellow Paso riders,
It's time to get my Paso back on the road after a long period, and I need your help.
Problem is that in Greece, it's going to be hard to work this project out..
Am thinking that getting the bike to Italy, just next doors, could be a good option.
So, here comes the question:

Can anybody recommend a mechanic that can be trusted with working on my Paso, fully restoring engine and frame?
I intend to move the bike to Italy with a ferry, so it would be more convenient to deal with areas near Bari, Brintesi or Venice.
That of course doesn't mean that others will be ignored if fitting for the job.

Will welcome your pm. If you believe that any info would be also useful for others, why not go public on your answer.

Thank you in advance

Peter

Thank you for info paso750.
Last time I did a research on this option, seemed like although there are many skillful Ducati
mechanics in Greece, no one was dealing with Pasos or had any experience..
Some were willing to help but that is not always enough.
Still, will definitely give it a go on the links.

Thank you

Peter

I'm amazed you don't manage to find any Ducati mechanic in Greece.
All in all, the Paso is a quite simple bike and a mechanic who is able to repair a Monster would not have so many issues with a Paso.
However, I can't help about eastern Italy.
I could bring you to a good mechanic in Rome.

Thank you persempre907, for your reply. I suspect they are not very willing to deal with a rare old bike, when at the same time they will be more productive with new ducatis.
I am looking for a solution at the time, no success so far.
Can you please pm me with some detail about Roma? whenever possible?

Anyway, wish you Merr Xmas

Grazie tanto

You're welcome!
I think the same.
They don't like to work on a rare, old bike...
Around Rome (Pomezia) there is my mechanic, an ex racer who works on Ducati, new and old ones, and knows very, very well the Paso series.
I can tell he's very skillfull and he's fixed some parts which the mechanic of the Ducati's workshop mechanic said what there were to be replaced.
If you decide to come in Italy, I could see you there.
Let me know.
Ciao

Hi again,
Just a quick note, wanted to thank you for your help. After consideration and your advice, I finally decided to do the restore in Greece.
I must admit that all shops that I contacted in Italy were very helpful, which is appreciated.

At the moment, the Paso is under the tender care of a local mechanic in Athens, which I got to know better and am very happy with his service. Hopefully my bike will be ready by next month.
Paintwork is finished, decals got them from UK. Result looks great!
Also got the new Goldentyres for her.
Only real faults found in the engine was one slightly damaged valve seat(back cylinder) and some worn out gasket.
Mechanic was impressed with the carb conversion work! So kudos for help from forum on this matter!

I am away now, for work, but hope that will be able to upload some photos when the whole project will be finished.

Best regards and will keep you posted.

Thanx again

You did the right choice!
The shipment to Italy would have been too expensive.
We are waiting for he pics of the bike  .

Just wanted to share with you the good news!

My PASO is ready, out from mechanic's shop and I am so happy to be able to go ridding with her again.
It was the best thing that happened to us lately, I am thrilled!
Completely happy with the work done on her.
It is almost a full restoration, everything old and weared out has been changed.
Engine restored, Mikunis used instead of Weber and tuned to optimum.
Shocks repaired, electric system, dashboard and new paintjob done.
I am soooo happy! She's like new, I look at her and I feel like a stupid teenager! (maybe I am..)
I wish to thank you all for your help, and hope you will like the photos!

Already dreaming about riding to Italy coming September, for the San Marino GP! Maybe meet some other fellow PASO riders there!

Stay on the road!

Peter

Congratulations - looks lovely.

If you don't mind me asking - how much was the paint job?

Thank you for your wishes, dear friends.

I cannot describe how happy I am! I am trying to use any excuse to go for a ride!
I know, looks like I am hopeless.. ;-)

Paintjob cost was 600euro+VAT.
Beautiful work, decals from UK, extra. I think it was around 60euro, top quality.

Best wishes for the summer!

Peter
