Pressure switch (to activate the tail light) on front brakes

Post by viper1 »

Where can I buy a pressure switch for the brake lights thats connected to the front brake lines? Its the one that activates the tail light when you squeeze the front brake lever. Any idea?

Obviuosly any ducati shop will be able to get one ... probly cost more than your bike tho , I would think that any brake repair shop should be able to supply one far cheaper than a ducati one . There is a thread in the p 750 F A Q forum ( parts interchange) detailing some parts that can be soursed from other makers , fer instance oil filters 80 bucks NZ for the ducati one .. 15 bucks for a citroen 2cv one .... same part just hasn't got ducati written on the box it comes in . Have a look at mg's (www.mgcycles.com ) , Its a Moto guzzi site but there are several brake switches to choose from , the big thing is to get the correct thread pitch ( all are 10mm dia some are 1.0mm pitch and some are 1.25mm ) which is usually listed in the product name . Bevel heaven is another duc supplier ( who also sells parts for ducatis other than bevel drives )

Hamish you old cynic  (that link is dead btw)

viper1 if you can´t find that switch you can always replace the banjo bolt at the brake master pump with the kind that includes a switch or you get a microswitch that mounts directly to the pump.

Why not fit a microswitch? Did mine this summer. Easy job. It should be a direct fit. Only thing is that you probably have to cut the plug and fit two round ones that will connect to the cable on the stock wiring loom. Note: you really need the small black round cilinder between brake-lever and the switch.

Actually if I remember you need a 1.00 thread pitch which should be most Euro brake pressure switches, vw AUDI
as in DuckAudi .........bimmer Biff :banghead:

or you could just order one from Bevel Heaven
Ducati, making mechanics out of riders since 1946
There's no problem so bad that a little fixing can't make it worse! : )
If it ain't broke keep fixin it till it is

This looks more correct, has 1.00 thread, and that black divider between the two terminals....

I guess if you visit some car parts shops you will find one which costs only a fraction of the one above.
If you remove it and also if you`ve already drained the brake fluid stuff the thread with something and cover the fender with a plastic bag (not a rag or towel). One drop of brake fluid can leave an ugly stain on the paint which can`t be removed.
