hello
hello
hello there
i'm new to this forum, riding a 87 750 Paso
I'm from the Netherlands and a bit of a ducati freak. owning a 860 bevelhead racer and a 87 750 paso. ( Also doing a bit of trackriding / racing in supermono class with a cagiva mito based supermono with a suzuki 4 stroke engine in it.)
For my work i'm in motorcycle suspension with my own very small shop
"bitubo-raceservice.nl" .as i do the raceservice in the Netherlands and Belgium for Italian suspension company "Bitubo Racesuspension".
Doing Suspension sales, services, and modification on street and racebikes
(My Paso does have the original Marzocchi M1R forks and still the Marzocchi shock (planning on changing that for a bitubo shock this winter..when i have time
My paso is mainly used for fun..riding the Belgium "Ardennes" .
Bike is not the cleanest and sometimes has had a hard life but the technical condition is fairly okay.. 70.000km on the clock and still running strong!
anyway..i like it a lot.. just because it's "different'" .
Anyway,,i used to read here sometimes..like to read about Paso's
Now i might have a change to be a part of the forum and to talk a bit.

By the way, what tyres are you running? This is one of the big topics here
what tyres?
i'm running Metzelers..in 16 inch
front = 130-70 / rear = 160-70
Front was a bit of a problem..had to raise the frontfender a bit for the tyre to fit under it
(and on track the fronttyre was "eating" the fairing under heavy breaking but that's okay now.. )
Rear tyre fitted but the chain sometimes hit's the tyre a bit..
( i dont care about that..used to that from supermono racing..)
I like to keep it on 16inch tyres. Only problem i see is that i'f 'm going for a longer trip with the bike and got a problem with the tyres..no motorcycle shop can help me with a replacement instantly..
some pics... (yeah i know..have to fix the saddle.. )

Re: hello
Hello there,
I had a replacement Bitubo shock in the Paso once. It was the cheapest I could find and actually not bad It was a simple one w/o external adjuster. (are there others for the P750?).
There were 2 flaws though. At the bottom of the shock there was a small lever to adjust the shock (basically only a screw with a plastic cap on it). That was too long and needed to be shortened as it touched the swingarm linkage. The red paint of the spring also lifted off partly even though the bike was used very little.

PS: What exhaust is that ?

maybe that had something to do with your "difficulties" on the rebound adjuster. (the shocks might be designed for 907? not 100% sure on that)
750 and 900 shocks are listed with the same aplication / order number
seperate apllication for:
- 750 F1
- 750 SPORT
-750/ 900 Paso
those shocks are "XZE01" .which is "basic replacement shock"..not a true raceshock but simply a good and relative cheap replacement. adjustable in preload and rebound.
about the exhaust..
i do not know..
those were on the bike when i bought it.
there's no "marque / brandname" on it..
All i know is that those exhaust are uh... loud!

Welcome back!
What do you have for the 907 in suspension?
Rear shock, front kits/springs, prices?

well, there's a bitubo applicationlist on my websiteTamburinifan wrote:Welcome back!

At the "info' page you will find a link called "2008 bitubo prijslijst".
clicking on it opens the 2008 cataloque (duc shocks are on page 24)
pricing = ex VAT
http://www.bitubo-raceservice.nl/p25.html
I'm planning to make a complete aplicationlist for al the Italian bikes (as soon as i got the time for it)
for frontfork springs..
depents on the bike and the lenght of the M1R forks
Bitubo does not list frontforksprings for M1R Marzocchi forks anymore
As a replacement i use springs from Wilbers suspension
Price of wilbers springset is aprox 85,- euro's ex VAT
(but..the Marzocchiforks can be a real "pain in the ass" to finetune.
Open it up, take it completly apart and then clean everything very well is the first step.
Springs are a good investment and a sort of "quick-solution" to make it a bit better in this case. "The pain in the ass part" is in the oil and "oil-level". the intern components are very simple and i've seen forks that were intern completly "f*cked up" from new off..
The design is okay (for mid 80's) but in some cases the "finish" is very bad.
there are good M1R's..and there are bad M1R's..

well.. i was always a ayrton senna fan..and a McLAREN fan
and not so much of a hill and schumacher fan
so...wenn Senna died..
I became a hakkinen fan..
.....and when hakkinen stopped driving F1.. i did not watch anymore..hahahaha..
i use that nickname on a lot of fora (sometimes written with single "K" and double "N"
uh..the tyres..
those are Metzelers yeah..
front = metzeler Sportec M1 130/70ZR16 (does fit easily..but needed to raise the fender a little bit and it will eat your fairing under heavy braking ( the first couple of times))
rear = metzeler ME1 160/70/16 (yes..the chain does touch (bike has no chain..uh..do not know the name.."chainfender"???) the chain a bit sometimes. not really a problem..i'm doing some 3000km now with those tires
grip is okay..i did a trackday and had the paso also with me.. did some trackriding with those metzelers..even on a slightly wet track.. grip is fair enough (i'm used to ride on dunlop slicks and pirelli supercorsa's so i now what 'grip" is..
cheers

Re: hello
the one I had was the correct one. The swingarm linkage is the same on all Pasos and the F1 and Sport shocks are shorter as the swingarm ts totally different.Bitubo is making no difference shocks for paso 750-900

nah..
it's sort of "american way" of suspension tuning ..(i think.."the europeans know a lot more form suspension and chassis design" .. )
Emulators are "like simple valves"..
they are designed as a sort of a "cartridge simulation".
In old forks with a simple damping rod instead of a cartridges there's the possibility to use emulators.. those are simple valves that manipulate the oilflow in the forks.
Simply to be placed (on top) at the damping rod..the springs will keep them in place.
could be working in old forks without cartridges..
we use simple Bitubo cartridges for "original non cartridge forks" from the newer bikes like suzuki sv650 and kawasaki ER6N (and most guzzi's / also the older ones)
