There is a company in California USA that can cut the rim off your wheel, then weld on a taller shoulder rim to make your wheels 17 inch. You can have the weld polished out, or leave it visible. I assume you would have to repaint the wheel because of the welding being so close to the spokes, I don't remember that detail. I checked on this more than a year ago for a friend who is an original owner of a Paso before the Golden Tires showed up. He had just purchased a monster so he did nothing to the Paso. Now he has the new tires from Golden.
The company is Kosman performance or racing. I talked to them more than a year ago, and as I remember the cost was somewhere between $1000-1500 for both wheels. I found this in an article in Roadracing Magazine a few years back on an article of some racers converting wheels on race bikes to the then new 16.5 size.
If anyone is interested let me now and I can get more up to date specifics again.
If I can ever find a Paso for me I will be getting an extra set of used wheels to have it done.
