Paso 750 exhaust headers

Post by ArtfulBodger »

Hi, I have been recommended to the forum to try and sort out my Paso 750.
I'm looking for the larger bore exhaust headers.
Mine are part 037084020 /030 and have 35mm primaries and 40mm after the collector/splitting section.
Does anyone know the correct part number for the ones I want, or have any aftermarket ones available for sale?
Thanks

Hello & welcome to the forum.
Mine are part 037084020 /030 and have 35mm primaries and 40mm after the collector/splitting section.
Do you really have 020 and 030 ?

This is an old post I wrote in 2009
Measuring intake diameter of P750, 906 and 907ie exhaust cans we confirmed that all have 40mm inner diameter. ...
The difference between the US and the european header is the tube diameter from the cylinder to the header cross. The header tubes coming out the cross going to the silencers are the same on all Paso headers. (incl. the Limited models)

The Paso 750 parts catalogue lists:

horizontal header
0370.84.020 (validity f.m.) - inner diameter 37mm, outer diameter 40mm
0370.84.023 (validity d.m.)
0370.84.220 (US)

vertical header
0370.84.030 (validity f.m.) - inner diameter 31mm, outer diameter 35mm
0370.84.033 (validity d.m.)

Ian Fallon mentions the racing uprating kit in his Duc 2 valves restoration guide and it`s the header 0370.84.023 + 0370.84.033. As the vertical tube is the same as on the european standard header, the tube diameter of the front header must also be the same so actually the only difference between the standard european header and the Limited header must be the header crossing.
The odd part is that since then I have had two more headers and I`m now left with a 020 & 030. Both are 40mm od, 37mm id throughout (unlike yours). I had a 030 tube with the small diameter which makes it all confusing now. Might be that it was stamped incorrectly in the factory or the 030 I`m still left with is.
I doubt Ducati used the small size header for the Limited.
I wouldn`t rely on part numbers when seeing this. If you find one have the seller measure the od & id.

Thanks, maybe they ran out of smaller pipe half way through the production run!
Have found a new old stock collector that are said to be the larger bore, just need to find the rear pipe to suit. Would prefer aftermarket seperate pipes ideally but think I'm unlikely to be able to.

It depends on what you're aiming for. On top of my head smaller diameter headers will have the max torque at lower rpm. Suppose your max torque is now present at 6000 rpm. Reducing it with 6mm the torque could be at approx 5000 rpm.

In your case is the other way around. Increasing the tube diameter will have a torque in higher revs. I'm having the smaller headers on my paso for the obvious reason.. Torque at lower revs!

Btw I'm using the stock valve diameters and exhaust ports at the moment.
