thread oil line adapters ?

Hi there,

does someone know the thread size of the oil line adapters ?
The engine side must be M14x1.5 but what`s the thread towards the oil line ? On the Supersport/Monster etc. it`s 9/16” -18 UNF but that`s a lot smaller than the one of the Paso adapters.

G.

PS: pls. let me know if you have one of these adapters or an oil cooler laying around. If so you could measure the outer and inner diameter of the thread and the thread distance.

The oil cooler fitting is 22mm od, 13.5 id, 1.5 metric pitch.

my bad. I just noticed that the connections of the oil hose to the engine and to the oil coolers are not the same.
Thanks a lot for measuring muxey.
Guess I`ll have to visit a hydraulics shop this week maybe they can help out.
I have an oil thermostat from a Monster/SS and am wondering if it can be adapted to the Paso.

continuing with my monologue ;)
Had the adapters ordered today.
According to the hydraulics shop the connection of the original Paso oil lines towards the engine (adapter) is 1/2" BSP and towards the oil coolers 15L M22x1.5.
The original adapter between engine and oil hose is M14x1.5 to 1/2" BSP.

(BSP = British Standard Pipe, alias Withworth thread while NPT = american National Pipe Thread)

Cut one old oil hose into bits as I was curious about the size and type of the adapter pieces.
I was told (by the hydraulic shop) that the end pieces would have to be removed which I did but they are not crimped on as they assumed. They are just a protection and safety for the hose and should not be removed. (hence if someone has a spare oil hose, preferably an old defect one let me know ;)
The oil hoses have 3 layers so hairline cracks in the blue cover don`t mean much.
The hoses are only pushed on.
The hose nipples are 9,5mm (from one oil cooler to the other) and 12,8mm (from the engine to right oil cooler).
Hence fitting push on hoses would be 3/8" (9,65mm = D-06) and 1/2" (12,7mm = D-08).
(note that hoses that are not for push on installation might be also classified as size D-06, D-08 etc but may vary in inner diameter. I.e. Steel braided hoses like the ones on that SS above won`t work. Not only because of the different inner diameter but also because the don`t expand. Btw to install push on hoses don`t oil them. Put them in warm - not boiling - water for a while to soften)

obviously there were also oil hoses with crimped end pieces

they are all of the same basic design G, banding is stronger than crimped but involves a more expensive process to get the band on and barbed and banded is strongest of these types of multi-piece hose ends

and oil is a universal solvent so in the end they all leak

ok so the correct term is banding not crimping. Still, all three sets of oil hoses I have are neither nor. They are just push-on. There are no pressure marks on the end sleeves and one can rotate them by hand. Also if they were press fitted they would be longer like the ones on the last pic I posted.

those original blue oilhoses are from AEROQUIP and can still be found w/o problems.
The larger one is the FC 332-08 and the smaller one the FC 332-06

Hi,

The original Aeroquip hoses are also available in black (for Europe: Demon Tweeks in the UK supplies them through Europe for a very fair price).
I ordered me new ones in black, only need to smarten up the original couplings, but have no idea how to dismantle those (partially aluminium/steel) if at all possible.

Anyone?

Want to smarten up the original couplings but have no idea how to remove the steel nuts, they seem to be fastened with aid of a small pin .....
Would like to paint the alu parts and galvanize the steel ones but for that I have to separate them first.

No one ever tried? :choo:
