Fork legs - 750 vs. 907

Post by ducinthebay »

If you are converting to 17" Ducati wheels from 16" wheels, one of your challenges will be the spacing of the front wheel in the forks. If you use the newer speedo drive that comes with the 17" front wheel, the wheel is not centered in the forks. The big reason for this is that the inside of the left fork leg is different, as shown below.

Of course, machining your fork leg to match the 907 leg is a bit of challenge, unless you have a good machinist. Trust me, I have done it once already. Set up time was a over an hour, and cutting took about 30 seconds. Its much easier get a set of 907 fork legs, or 851 fork legs.

Of course the added benefit of the 907 sliders is that you can put on 4 piston calipers without the need for an adapter plate.

Cheers, Phil

do you know the transmission ratio of the 907ie speedometer drive ? If that was known one could look for a narrower one from another bike that might fit.
Another option could be a spacer instead of the speedometer drive and the use of a digital speedometer if that is legal.

It shows about 5% more speed than a GPS.
