Busy cleaning parts and preparing for paint (partly powdercoat).
Also grinding damaged aluminium parts. :zip:

imho those parts in the box still look good and would only need a cleanup.
If powdercoated the parts will be media blasted first to make the powdercoat stick better. That will ruin the bushes that are still installed in the brake and shifter levers (and the side stand). The footpegs might not move anymore when installed due to the added material thickness.

Gerhard, that's the photo effect, everyrhing looks good but in reality it ain't.
Also if I do the pegs and brackets but not the shift/brake pedal, it will show (different color/tint).
Protecting against media blasting and powdercoat is not to difficult but I assume the heat (180+ Celcius) will.
Will get some new bushes made up from either plastic or brass.

If you look carefully you can see the corrosion (just an example) and did some filing/sanding at the seams.
Now for sure it will have a much better/more agile roadholding :lol:

Hej Frank, can you tell what enginenumber this is..? Could just be the gold valvecovers, but maybe it is a later engine (4000 and up) with a early pickup/flywheel set.

removing that edge surely weakens the structure of that part. Probably in a range that won`t be noticable. Looks good though.

So, this morning I collected the frame parts (fork, rims and actual frame parts) from the paintstripper.
Back home I did file and sand the rough seams from the fork lowers and joke, welded the touch of the stand and did some touch-up of the stand itself (touched the tarmac apparently) and removed the helmlock bracket. :beer:
In the afternoon everything went directly to the powdercoater ....
So 2 weeks of waiting started ..... :truck:

Nice to work on my swingarm and will overhaul the Weber: will mount the 34mm chokes like higgy suggested in his Weber issue, new bearings and a full overhaul-set. :wacko:
All to-be-galvanized parts collected (after being steel brushed and cleaned) and sent to the galvanizer today.

2 pictures of the front fork lowers directly from the paintstripper.
Also good to see is that there was quite some corrosion although the paint was in a good condition.

So, got the Weber cleaned and dismantled.
Will order new bearings (SKF's 607 RS) and consider to get the displayed parts "waterblasted" so it will look immaculate. :shock:

To be honest, the Weber was the most dirty part of my bike (even worse than the swingarm !).
Wonder why .... it took me 2 hours, petroleum and a brush to get it roughly cleaned, never seen anything like it.
There was a K&N oval filter mounted, maybe it was lubed to much.
Will probably use a K&N filter again but this time a flat square one and the original airbox.

By the way I have a 750 and a 906 filterhouse.
At first sight they both fit, the 906 is marginally bigger .... preferences? :phone:
Jets were standaards with the exeption of the acceleration jet which was 40 (the manual stated 35).
Also, the main jet is really stuck on the emulsion tube, and I hate to use pliers on brass items.
Broke already a nail on those, any sugestions?

Will mount a pair of 34mm chokes which I bought from ALFA1750 but sofar will start with the F36 emulsion tubes.
Any suggestions on that issue?b :?:

try soaking it in vinegar or brass cleaner for a few days then use some soft wood on the jaws of your pliers to get a better grip
popsickle sticks are a standard tool in my garage :thumbup:
