What happened to all the chatter on the 750 forum or am I just not getting the messages? Arch.

Re: no topics?
The site goes through quiet periods of down time like this I think it is because a lot of folk are now settling in for the winter and maybe getting the bike back on the road isn't so crucial.
The other thing is our wealth of search knowledge also means that more often than not you will find your answer if you dig deep enough.
I have also noticed that the Facebook Paso site which I am tagged onto has also become very quiet.
Having said that the easiest way to make it busy is ask to a question

Re: no topics?
It`s not so easy finding one that hasn`t been asked yet
Re: no topics?
Well, in that case .....
I got a call from my powder coater telling me that after they sandblasted the frame there were 2 holes .... see picture.
Looks like corrosion, bur for me at a very strange (unexpected) place, left downtube from the headstock
Ever seen something like this?
Got it repaired but am a little surprised/disappointed about the steel quality of the frame.
I always want to find the roothcause of issues and this is a strange one for me ...

Re: no topics?
Hej Frank, could it be that the holes were drilled at some point and age / climate did the rest..?

Hi Léon,
No, before sandblasting there was nothing to see.
Was just rotting from the inside but can't see how moisture could come in .....
Always thought that a steel frame was bullit-proof, well ..... not anymore.
Assumed the 25Cr4Mo was much more corrosion resistant .... Italians!

Re: no topics?
Mc Tool, if I would follow your advice, my frame would corrode even more ...
But seriously, ever seen something similar (because it really bothers me) ?
Frank (by the way, Dutch by birth)

Re: no topics?
I have seen the odd bike frame with this sort of internal corrosion , but mostly trail bikes , and some are well known for it but I have not heard of it on a Paso before . Mind you older Italian vehicles are bad for it , Lancia and Fiat are just another work for rust bucket

Re: no topics?
actually it seems to be a fairly common occurrence. I have supplied more than one section of my spare frame to be welded in place of some corroded ones. From what I can tell there appears to be some frames where the sand was not cleaned out of the tubes before welding the frames up. I can only guess this sand is setting up some sort of electrical process causing the corrosion from the inside out jm2c

Re: no topics?
Very poor quality of steel. I don't think this could be dangerous, but it's likely to be some kind of crap or hole, hidden by painting. Your frame has ridden for 28 years since now with no matter. Repairing the holes should be enough.
have a nice ride, Nicola

Re: no topics?
Its a seasonal thing, everyone in the northern hemisphere is about to go into winter and have gone quiet while we are just getting started with our riding season "down under".
I for one can't wait for my first ride for the season from franz josef glacier down thru haast on a fine day!!
The boys in the south island will know what I'm talking about.

Wanaka to Nelson .... 6.30 hrs ( with a fish and chip stop in Greymouth ) in the west coast sunshine ( it was pissing down ). Chch to the west coast is also a brilliant ride ........shredded a pair of brand new Phantoms between Oxford and Punakaiki return for the 1st west coast rally, got shit faced at Barrytown pub .....spots in the car park ... some dude doing doughnuts on a V12 jag powered trike and some one ( from Scargill ) torched the porta loos , and wobbly walker left his stash under a bridge somewhere..........faaaark that was a trip
