Shindengen SH775 serie regulator - connectors
Shindengen SH775 serie regulator - connectors
Hi,
Bought myself a brand new, original Shindengen SH775 serie regulator/rectifier in the hope it will work.
All remarks, reviews & advise that I've read, have not convinced me it will but I will inform you if it is plug & play or not.
I've got 2 yellow and 1 red wire coming out of the stator.
Also not sure how to connect the output wires (original has 3 positive connections, the Shindengen only 1).
Tempting to take the 3 together but not 100% sure yet (anyone?).
1 question though: does someone know the name/type/brand of the 2 connectors used on the Shindengen R/R?
Need to have them and I would like to get them somewhere from Europe (to avoid customs - cost & handling fees, the original SH775 was already quit expensive).
Frank

you should check local jap bike or Triumph dealers. They may sell them, too but of course under their own part number so it would make sense to visit personally and take the regulator along.

has everything you need to know and can sell you the connector-terminal kit for 20USD
Almost all bikes made these days use these regulators as well as snow mobiles etc
they hook up just the same as any other regulator

Re: Shindengen SH775 serie regulator - connectors
Hi ordered the connectors in the US and received them last week.
Only disadvantage is that we (in Europe) have to pay extra handling costs due to customs.
Still not sure how to connect the R/R and the original wiring loom but that's for later.
Higgy, do you have the serial R/R connected?
Frank

Re: Shindengen SH775 serie regulator - connectors
Aside: why are there different versions of the 750 stators?
Mine has 3 wires (although I think mine has 3 yellow wires and not 2 yellow and 1 yellow/red) but if correct some have also a 2 wire stators.
Only the ducati factory knows the answer to this one, I can only guess it was a failed attempt to improve reliability.
If in fact you have three yellow wires you are going to have to figure out which yellow wire is hooked up to which stator winding one will be common to both winding's, the other two will be at the other end,one wound in one direction, one wound in the other. Once you figure that out, mark the one +( the common wire) the other two minus( the two wound in opposite directions) +/- is just to sort the wires out and has no other correlation.
Not sure if memory serves me but I think on the stator you will find 3 terminals. The one in the middle I think is the common the other 2 are at the other end of the winding and can be joined together giving you your two wires into the regulator Working from memory here because I had my stators rewound ti single phase.
Hope this helps, questions just ask

Re: Shindengen SH775 serie regulator - connectors
Hi Higgy,
After stripping some more isolation, I found out it has 2 yellow and 1 red wire.
If I understood well, I should hooke them up (in random order).
Just not sure what to do with the output wires, the original has 3 .....
Maybe you know how to hook'm up
Thanks anyway
Frank

Re: Shindengen SH775 serie regulator - connectors
twist the two yellow wires together to make one regulator input wire.Use the red for the other. Does not matter which regulator input terminal you hook them to( pick any 2 of the 3 of the grey terminal). Forget about the blue( or brown) output wire secure it off and get yourself a voltmeter to hook up across the battery terminals
