Pickups / pulse Generators

Hi All,
Decided to take my 750 into a local motorcycle shop, it's been running ruff for while and I've tired tuning it after converting to Mikuni's.
Also the starter motor was intermittent and don't have time at the moment to do it myself.
Starter motor was just the bushes which was suspected , but now the motor won't fire up and after going through everything it's suspected it the pickups.
Are these one's on EBay the right type,
http://www.ebay.com/itm/152319175620?_t ... EBIDX%3AIT
The wiring on mine seem to be a bit dodgy , as in the continuity drops out briefly when wiggled.
Cheers for any input
Tony

Id hold off buying them for a bit :) . Knowing paso electrix I think it unlikely that both pick ups would fail together , more likely ( again .... Paso  ) a power supply issue. What else have you done to arrive at the pick ups ? fitted a relay to the main power supply ? checked for voltage drop ? cleaned up all the plug connectors and earths ? . These old birds are not unknown to give wiring issues due to age and being shit in the 1st place  .............Tell me more :D :)

Hi Hamish,
Yup I have, along with the bike shop have checked all connections , I fitted a relay to system awhile ago to make sure there is 12v to the coils .
Swapped bits around , but seems the only thing we can fault is the pickups or wiring from them.
this all seems to have happened since puuting the bike back together after fixing the starter motor , as I rode the bike to the shop.
My next thing to do is hunt down some wire and insulation that will work in the oil and heat and rewire ..if that doesn't work that I get the pickups next.
Cheers
Tony

You think you have problems with pickups? This is what I found when I took my Pantah apart :

Hi Tony,

I replaced the pickups on my P750 a couple of years ago, one was crook and they came as a set, so there should be one good one available. You are welcome to it if it's needed.
Cheers,
Fraser.

From a thread diagnosing a non firing horizontal cylinder called "Replacement Coils" dated Oct. 07, 2016:

"Just to follow up for the record, the pick-up was replaced (soldered to the existing wiring within the case) and all is well. The pick-up was indeed from Rick's Motorsport Electrics and the part# on the box label is 21-509. I've put the original 29 year old coils in a nice safe place and replaced them with coils from a carbed '99 M900 (a mere 17 years old). Cheers!"

Best of Luck,

—Randy
