Hello all,
Working on fitting a second hand centre stand and while cleaning it up I notice the right and left side are out of plane. It almost seems that the cross bar has a slight twist in it.

First noticed that when I had it laying on the bench the two mounting points and the two feet didn't all touch down evenly. Thought maybe the pats at the bottom might not be symmetrical or that the point past the pivot where not the same length. When I look at it from the side I can see a slight twist, the two legs are out of plane by a couple of degrees.

Assume this isn't correct but before I try and bend it I thought I'd see what the community consensus is.

I think all centre stands end up getting a bit out of shape as there can be quite a lot of side leverage put on them and it will always be trying to twist them in the same direction...

Check all the weld points before and after you have a go at bending it as I have seen them start to crack which leads to sudden failure

Fortunately (or unfortunately...) Centre stand is pretty malleable. Put a piece of lumber through the legs and stood on it. Bent it back into shape. I'm well fed but my weight won't usually bend steel pipe.

Anyway, second issue now is that the rubber/plastic chain slider did not survive a soak in simple green to remove the chain lube. It crumbled in my hands rinsing it off.

Now the hunt is on for a new or used chain slider. Not sure if Ducati still carry the part although it looks like it was used on some KTM models. Will try and call around tomorrow

I also found a Cagiva reference for 52171-R02-000 (91 Cagiva Freccia)

Good luck with finding the chain slider through Ducati or KTM. You may find a new one on eBay, but they are as rare as fresh dinosaur footprints!

They ain't hard to make ,I chopped a hunk off wifie's kitchen cutting board , and cut a couple of slots in it

if you want to by one, but 12euro plus freight is a tall ask, I'd risk it with the wife's cutting board,

But if you want to be sensible they take about 10 minutes to make, you can by the plastic at engineering supplies & 25mm by 25mm be 300 is about $10.00, enough to make about 8 of them

Is there any scope for strengthening it by adding gussets perhaps?
