Newby from New Zealand

Hi all, recently purchased a cosmetically challenged and full of bodges 750 as a restoration project.

My VIN is ZDM1AA1NXLB753368 which says it is a 1990 model if I am reading it properly, but I read on this forum production only went to 1988?

Does anyone know the reason? Just curious.

Do any Paint codes exist for the standard red and grey Paso? I can't find much on paint for these things.

cheers

Tony

Thanks higgy, but I have had a real good look through the FAQs and I can only see info that says production finished in 1988 for the 750s and the VIN decoder tells me mine is from 1990.

I can't see anything on paint codes.

I presume I am looking in the wrong thing.

There is no reason to rehash old stuff (I know how frustrating that is from other boards for other bikes when I have been in your shoes) but if you could point me more specifically at the info, I would appreciate it.

cheers

Tony

Hi all,

ok still non the wiser about production ending in 1988, but my bike VINed as a 1990.

Talking to a mate over a beer at the weekend, he reckoned it was simply that the VIN plate was attached when the bike left the factory so in my case it was siting in a crate for two years before being sold.

He said he had struck this with Japanese bikes before...this sound plausible to people?

cheers

Hi RE5, yes plausible. Same thing happened to me a couple of years ago at the VTNZ. The Japanese documents showed first registration in 1990. I did explain how the bikes were manufactured in 87-88. In the end he conceded that I probably knew more about it than he did and put 1988 as the model year. Either way no biggie.
