New member from England

Post by Nick_A »

Hello

I have just brought a Ducati Paso 906, in light blue. I used to ride the 750 twenty years ago, I also used to own a Ducati Indiana. I saw an advert for the Paso and just couldn't resist, it looked great in blue.

Its being serviced at the moment, its done 7300 miles and was still on the original tyres when I brought it home, slightly worrying!!
Its having a major service and of course new tyres, also having a small leak in the water pump repaired.

Can anyone please tell me when it was made, the vin number is 000452, engine number 000081?

Many thanks, I look forward to chatting with other owners on the forum.

Thanks
Nick.

Hi Nick - welcome to the best site on the web for 750, 906 and 907 info!

I am sure there is a list of serial numbers on here somewhere.

Where are you based?

Hi Roger

Thanks for the reply. I'm not too far from you, I'm in Somerset, just outside Wellington. I'm going to use the coming months getting back into riding, do you know if there are any meets in the UK at all?

Regards
Nick.

Cheers Steve - Nick - I aim to go to the gathering in April on my 907 if it is in Lincolnshire (Scotland probaby too far) - if you fancy joining it would be good. We could meet at Aust / Leigh Delamere etc. - Just a though.

I went last year to the initial meet up in Mid Wales - it was good fun.

Keep in touch and there is loads on this forum - use the search engine - it is amazing what has been covered over the years.

Hi All

Thanks for the info, my 906 was first registered 2/09/1993, so it looks as though it might have been unsold for at least four years. Perhaps red ones are more popular!

I don't know what I am doing in the summer but Northumberland is a long way away from Somerset, but would be interested to a meet nearer home.

In the meantime, this is a photo of my 906

The gaskets you need are common to all water cooled ducatis, 2valve and 4valve up to about 2001 as far as i know so you should be able to get them from a dealer. The left hand engine cover gasket was not available last time I took mine off a few years ago as the factory used sealant only and stopped stocking the gasket.

Lovely looking bike btw. is exhaust 2:1?

On reflection waterpump seal might be model specific. someone here will be along to correct me.
Careful with the hoses, difficult to get.

Yes, exhaust is 2 into 1. Sounds very good. I am in two minds whether it is better to have as original or a good looking exhaust as this one is but it was on the bike when I bought it.
Thanks for the advice on gaskets. That is now sorted. Still no luck with water pump seal.
Hope I can find one soon.

Nick, you`re better off posting issues in the 906 forum not here ;)
The waterpump gasket is #78810063A and the same on
Ducati 748 `99 SPS
Ducati 748 SP, Biposto
Ducati 851 Superbike Racing `91
Ducati 851 `90 SP
Ducati 851 `91-`92
Ducati 888 Superbike `92
Ducati 888 `93->
Ducati 906 Paso `88
Ducati 907 I.E. `92
Ducati 916 `94
Ducati 916 Monop.-Senna `95-
Ducati 916 SP `96
Ducati ST 2 `97
A Ducati dealer should have no problem getting it.

What`s the part number of the seal you`re looking for ? (you can download the parts catalogue from the site)

Nick, I believe your bike used to belong to David Harvey, who I met at an owners club meet many years ago. He did a lot of experiments with weber carbs and wrote articles in docgb magazine about his solutions.

According to the parts manual there are two oil seals.
The outer one is #937831625 and the inner one #937831624.

and according to Google:

#937831624 = CORTECO 12010799B (thickness 4mm, id 16mm, od 24mm. Profile BA)
= GARELLI 29867100, PIAGGIO-GILERA 780522, F.M. FABBRICA M 375460070900

#937831625 = CORTECO 12010801B (thickness 7mm, id 16mm, od 24mm. Profile BA)
= GOLDONI 06220058, LANDINI 3009830X1, ELRING 044008, MASSEY FERGUSON 3009830X1, GOETZE 5030045000

G, Thanks so much for the info.
I need the water pump seal, not an oil seal. will look up the part number in the catalogue.
