Clutch Woes

Opps. Posted this on the Paso list by mistake.

I have a '90 750 Sport. I gather that all 5 speed clutch packs from this era are the same.

Could someone give me order and orientation of assembly for plates?

I have a parts manual PDF that shows an order....but It looks like there are two different steel plates....and I believe one if not both are convex?

I had a slipping clutch....I installed the new clutch pack in the correct order (I thought...though I had no instructions...and the shop manual stinks).

Now the clutch "grabs"..and chatters.

Any ideas? Air in the line?

Is there a "spec" for stack height? How is it measured?

If stack height is to high...how do you vary?

Thanks a MILLION.

Hi Jeff,

Not sure if this will help but have a look at the Haynes manuals on this site and in particular early 750 dry clutch arrangements on page 2.31 of the Haynes Engine PDF.

There's an exploded diagram there which looks like the sports arrangement.
