sump nut or plug
hi does anyone what direction plug should be turned to take out to drain oil? i am not sure if i am turning the wright way
Re: sump nut or plug
If you are looking at the nut/plug/bolt (whatever it is) you have to turn counter clockwise; against the normal direction of a clock).
So, if you want to unscrew the oil plug (underside engine): lying on your back looking/eyeing against the underside you turn the wrench against the clock.
Good luck, if something is not clear just ask me!
Ciao,
Frank

Sorry, 1 thing: be sure you pick the right plug!
There are more than 1 (you need the plug which is in the middle of the engine, on the rear side of the crankcase ... the big one).

And it has a 10mm hex socket head. Make sure your key is a good fit in the socket, they have a nasty habit of rounding out.Frank.61 wrote:Sorry, 1 thing: be sure you pick the right plug!

The owners manual is readily available on the site for download, it has all the basic info you'll need to most things

Plus this thread has nearly every other thing you'll need, heaps of technical and other info

This should get you started
for what your doing just think Lefty Loosy - Righty Tighty when undoing or tightening things up, sounds silly but lying on the ground working underneath a bike or car, it is easy to get confused, well me anyway...
Also if you don't have one, well worth investing a in Torque Wrench.
Hope this helps
