Tacho drive off the Cam shaft info

Post by Mustang505 »

Hi all
Not sure if anyone has info on this as the workshop manual shows very little to nothing.

It states that the cam shatf that drives the tacho has two key ways - one for the belt dive and one for the tacho worm gear. Both my cam shafts have only one key way and the worm gear does not have a keyed slot in it anyway. Not sure why this is different - does anyone know?

thanks Clive

There is no keyway for the tach gear. Once the cam pulley nut is torqued up the tach gear is clamped in place.
There is very little force applied by the tach and cable to require a keyway to hold the gear in position.
