New owner of a 750 sport from new zealand.

Post by flyingkiwi »

Hi guys. My name is Mike. I am the second owner of a 1989 750 sport with a genuine 19000 kms on the clock. (Being computer illiterate i don't know if the photo of it is going to upload or not.) I have just done the belts and shims on it and it and spent far too much money on the weber carb and fitted the brand new original exhausts it came with. It runs faultlessly with no flat spots! I have converted the rear end to 900ss swingarm and 17'' wheel and am running metzeler sportecs on each end. This is a great website and was very helpful when i was doing my wheel conversion.I have been lurking for a while but finally managed to activate my account! Cheers Mike. :choo:

Hi Andrew. Have been watching your resto job.....That's a lot of hard work! Heaps of info on this site for 17'' wheel conversions, the rear is pretty much just a matter of bolting in new parts, i wasn't bothered about changing the front as it gets a bit more technical and the way it is now the bike is 12mm higher at the back and 12mm higher at the front, so i guess the geometry stays about the same. It is a much nicer animal now with modern rubber. Keep your alloy swingarm if you can, as the later steel one that i have weighs a tonne and was a pain to fit beacuse the swingarm pivots are completely different. There are some good posts on here about that too. cheers mike.

Thanks Mike.Yeah the resto is taking a while but was never going to be done quickly.I'm hoping to get the frame finished in the next couple of weeks.

I have two Sports and both have SS swing arms. I can not recommend either mod as they are not very straight forward. Was your original swing arm damaged?
