OK, I'm finally stepping up to the current century and putting up photos of my bike. Lets just start with a side shot.

As with any old bike, the debate is whether to go back to stock, or to modify. Well, this was a basket case when I got it, so I went the hotrod route. Its still a Sport, but its the best a Sport can be with parts of roughly the same vintage. I got an entire set of body work from a 900 Sport, as everything else was not good. I picked up the seat from another Sport, and had it recovered for $150. I took the tumblers for the helmet lock and seat latch apart and made them fit the key I had for the ignition. I just replace the plastic rear fender/tray piece.
The shock is aftermarket and was built for the Sport, but SS shocks work too.
GioCaMoto two into one headers with modified Supertrapp exhaust. Motor is basically stock, and I have never been into it. Still runs lovely.

I do have a 900 SS motor on the shelf that I may put in some day, if the old 750 motor ever dies.

I have had this bike for 7 years now, and could have just bought a good SS or 748 for the money spent, but there isn't one like it around. Still my favorite bike on the weekends.

Ok, now the front end.
Paso M1R forks, 300mm Brembo cast rotors, 30/32 goldline calipers, 17" font wheel from a 907, and a fork brace from an SV650, and fender from a 1990 851. Maybe the axle is stock to the bike.

900SS swingarm, 907 rear wheel, floating caliper from a 900SS, Venhill custom brake line, EBC steel rotor.
Supertrapp exhaust pipe salvaged from a Harley, and the Harley rider welded up the custom hanger for me.

Rear brake master cylinder has been moved/changed. There are threaded bosses on the motor same as new bikes. Probably not possible on a Paso. Master cylinder and pedal are from a 999/749. The main pivot bolt is modified to hold the brake stay for the full floating rear brake. While the master cylinder is close to the exhaust, it doesn't touch it like the old one did. The beer can wrap is acting like a heat sheild, but I have since removed it. I cut off the old brackets for the master cylinder. It all fits in their really tight.

Here is my Dellorto setup. I am an advocated of more intake length between the carb and aircleaner, and big air cleaners. The rubber elbows let me put 6" long foam aircleaners up above the carbs where the airs is a bit cooler. Lots of room under the tank where the old aircleaner box once lived. They are 2" rubber elbows (50mm) I figure that 50mm elbows feeding 36mm carbs is plenty of flow. Venhill cable kit for the throttle cables really improved things once dialed in.

I got rid of the silly ass petcock and replaced it with a simple banjo fitting. Who needs a petcock with a fuel pump?
Ends up the tank is threaded for 10mm banjo bolt same as your brakes. I just drilled one out for a bit more flow. Many later model Ducatis use the banjo fitting for fuel, so check e-bay or your local wrecker for fittings. they are usually cheap as nobody has any use for them.
I then put on quick releases for the fuel feed and return lines. The last photo you can see the fuel feed coming in from the left. The first "T" is the return line, and the second "T" is splitting off the the two carbs. I have a vacuum operated petcock from a Monster that I was thinking of rigging in there, but haven't yet.

Like all Ducati's from the era, the kickstand is too short. I found and aluminum side stand (maybe from a Monster?) and added a big rubber foot to it. The rubber foot is a toe brake from a roller skate, the 4 wheel kind of roller skate. Has a nice 6mm hole in it and a steel plate inside so its really tough. They are cheap too. I drilled a hole in from the bottom of the stand and tapped the hole.

Besides setting the bike at a better angle, it also has a wider stance, so it doesn't sink into hot blacktop as easily. The real bonus is if you forget to put up the stand, as I sometimes do. The rubber catches the pavement and folds up the stand without spitting you off the other side. Good all around.

Just notice that there is remnants of my spilled red wine from last night. Hmm, just like the factory.

Some last bits.
Triple clamps are Paso.
Clipons are German made Telefix machined to fit the 41.7mm fork legs. Way too much adjustability. Very difficult to get both sides to match.
Remote reservoirs clutch and brake from my 98 ST2, as are the front calipers.
Ohlins steering damper with a Storz fork leg clamp.
Electrical system is stone stock. No relays added yet. Magnet Marelli 2S box still working, but the vacuum advance doesn't work anymore, so I know there is a bit more to get from that motor.

As with any project, it takes time. Some parts sat on the shelf for 3 years before I got them on the bike and dialed in, and the project never really ends. Of course jetting is something you always chase.

Next phase is a set of 1989 851 triple clamps (3mm more offset) and forks revalved with Ricor Intiminators.

I'll also be going to a 4.5" rear wheel with a 160 tire. Took a long time to find a white 4.5" rim. Very rare in the states it seems. Only saw one, and bought it.
