750 sport tank

Post by a330us »

Hi guys, new member here, what a relief to finally get on the site, so first official act was to donate! I've got two 90 750 sports that I just picked up in the last two months plus been picking up some spare parts here and there.
I was curious to find out if the gas tank is a one year only item or is it the same as some later ones but with just the internal plumbing being different? Thanks Archie.

Archie,
The tank on the Sport is unique to this model only. They were produced for over 3 years, but sold in the US for only one year. The internals are the same as later models, so the pump and filter arrangement can be had from almost any SS, except the fuel injected models.

I purchased an unused tank from E-bay, and it has a lot of differences from the two tanks on my 750's, but it is certainly a Sport tank.

Also, one of our members put a later model SS tank onto a Sport, with minor modifications. You can search and find the string. He did a very Nice job.

Cheers, Phil

Thanks Phil,
I too just got a new bare metal tank off of ebay and it appears to be identical to the tanks on my two 750's. I think I've got enough spare parts now that I need a basket case to put back together! Arch.
