yeah , you could drill the grub screw but it would need to be a very small hole , lots of peeps use carb jets as restrictors ( you may be lucky enough to score one with the correct thread ) . Gotta remember that whatever oil you get out of that end of the crank is oil that used to go to the big end , and as said before that bearing needs bugger all . When you say "dry" .... I wouldn't expect it to be dripping with oil but def wet . Maybe later models/SS/Paso had different capacity oil pumps , but I don't think so . The 906 doesn't have an oil cooler ( being water cooled ) where as the SS and the P750 do :)

Protwin in perth recommends he can get the grub screw with hole to suit this engine , trouble now is after nearly 30 years the old screw is quite happy to stay where it is , I am considering just fitting alt cover and leave the old grub screw alone, and periodically removing the little end cap to keep an eye on the bearing and if need be give it the odd squirt of oil

I wonder if you could run a sealed bearing , same deal as the belt idlers .I personally wouldn't but I get the feeling that seeing as how that bearing is a push fit , as opposed to a press in interference fit , that it doesn't carry a lot of load .
 Did you know that a lot of these belt drive motors (SS Paso , sport ) left the factory with either one or both camshafts miss-timed by as much as 8deg................still worried about the bearing

Good point , a pretty robust motor, rushing to get em out to dealerships or at the least a quality control problem, i realise how pedantic this must seem but honesty this bike has had some pretty poor repairs and workmanship in the past, my pedanticism will pay off in the end , thanks for input

I don't think its pedantic at all , meticulous is a better word , and yeah it will pay off in that you will have a reliable ride . These bikes seem to have got a rep for being unreliable ..... a fallacy perpetuated by penis fingered idiots , pure and simple . Start off with a good well sorted bike ( as you are ) and an average amount of tlc will see you with a reliable , durable ride , and they don't get much cooler

Here here, that's my plan , as with the lemans and some said were unreliable as well, rebuilt my 3 same way and rode several times from perth to laverton around 2300 km round trip , sometimes full throttle, never missed a beat, won't be doing that on this one but I want to build it the same way, sorted, these bikes deserve no less

Applies to a lot of things ..... if I fix it properly now when Im 53 I wont be having to #uck about with it when Im 63, or even 73 ( or find the money to do so) :) most of the stuff I have now will outlast me ( and the Mrs ) and after that who gives one

Covers nearly ready for refit bar a couple of runs then I will fit alternator cover first then concentrate on the clutch side, things happen pretty slowly lately , restoring both trade and cage trailers , and signs to reinvest guzzi money to get back on my feet, restart my painting business also recommissing pressure cleaner and airless
