That blockage is still there after removing my trouble broken guide...
I'm still wondering about that picture. If there was something in the shaft to block it or if only a hole had been machined into it I wouldn't expect to see an uneven border. Imo it still looks as if something is stuck in there. However if the pin has sufficiant travel it's probably of no concern.

That Barnett clutch kit instructions don't show the clutch you originally have but the one of later models. Who said it would fit the early 900SS? The Surflex clutch overview show that the P750/906/900SS clutch pack is the same. I suppose the one you have is the one that also fits the 916, 900 Monster, 900SS '91- etc.. Not only is the clutch of Ducs with the clutch piston on the left engine side different but the clutch pack is also 5mm thicker.

Hi G, I think the blockage won't affect anything but the clutch pack I'm a little concerned with as the last drive plate protrudes a little from the clutch drum and is tight against the circlip, I bought the kit from Justin who is Protwin in Perth, I believe he was Brook Henry's understudy, I might chuck it on the trailer and give him a visit to clarify some,

Now I'm really confused as I have just removed the new clutch set and measured the stack height compared to the set I am replacing and the new set is appx 2.5 mm lower than the old so I can't see why barnett set sits proud of clutch drum yet the old set not reaching the external edge of drum as in pic,

That really is odd and would only make some sense if the last Barnett steel disc was a warped one which according to the installation manual it isn't.
You removed the red springs again? Just asking. That has nothing to do with the problem.

My suspicion might be correct since I found this file online. It's the same Barnett clutch number but with a different setup. This one has a curved disc. The number of discs is not the same as shown in the instructions you posted. Which one corresponds to what you have?

Before trying old set I will post a pic of the clutch nut and amount of thread showing on the shaft, maybe I have got something wrong and the clutch drum isn't sitting where it should, and I'll look back for that on my disassembly photos, I may have to go back a bit , take clutch nut back off, I broke my homemade clutch tool torquing her up and the lock washer is toast so mighty be such a bad idea anyway, cheers

I may need to find a reasonably priced tool on ebay or maybe I should have another crack at making one from the old set as the original was only one thin driveplate

I had a look at my dismantle pics and the thread length visible same as now so I'm guessing my parts sequence must be right, but now with the old clutch set , springs and control plate in place the outer driveplate sits exactly where the barnett unit was sitting, ie, proud of the clutch drum as in this pic

As you can see its in one of the last pics before i stripped it, the plate was not proud, maybe thats just how they are until its actually been charged up and used?
