Thanks Andrew im hoping to get on the road for the aussie summer and with a bit of luck,,, i need to see how the rubbers/ bolt or such is from the subframe to the bottom of the upper fairing / bracket as the exploded view in the parts manual not clear and mine was not correct, just assorted washers and old bolt, any original pics would be great, thanks again

One trick when fitting complex assemblies is like bodywork or exhausts is to just to put all together without tightening and gigle all bits around.

1mm here 1mm there and suddenly you realize the fitting is perfect. At this point you start tightening all and see if it stays put... if not then you can see easily which is the screw/bolt that needs some attention.

The old subframes often are not straight either they dropped on the bike or in the warehouse or supply twisted during production as quality check in that era were like ... ok it looks fine. Just leave it a little loose and see if you can fit the bodiwork.

What happens when all loose is fairing still wants to naturally pull in close on the clutchside ,like it needs a block on the rear stay at the inside fairing hole she's pushing against the clutch cover pretty hard , doing my head in but I'll keep at cause that little block will annoy the he'll out of me

The left side is sweet just where it needs to be, I'm wondering if the top fairing is the culprit , lightbulb moment I think maybe a spreader rear lower bracket keeping the forward bracket standard, leaving max 10 mm gap at rear bottom of fairing, not noticeable and should be effective, now I need to order the hardware and sort it so.i can get onto something else

No good at instrument shop , anyway I've ordered some chrome bezels / glass cheap and get shop to crimp if they're right. Got a longer stand and finally paint and put together with replated springs etc, waiting on the bezels, also ebay a restorable condition rear lens and housing as mine knackered, and nos Speedo drive turned up with a split in the housing same as mine , but not ground down like mine and it clears the countersunk rotor screws, so goodo

Still doing an excellent job!

May I ask where you took the longer sidestand from and what sprocket fixation bit that is?

Thanks for that and for letting us follow you work!

To be honest I don't know which model the sidestand is off , when I got from ebay I thought it was the same as original but it turned up being longer which is great although I haven't had the bike on the ground yet to check, the cap on the end of the countershaft was made by protwin ducati to compensate for a slightly worn spline so I didn't split the engine and replace the shaft
